I remember getting this as a kid. Get those flag points and get Mom and Dad to write a check for shipping and handling. Every day you were at the mailbox waiting for it like Ralphie Parker and his Little Orphan Annie decoder ring. 😂

I was thrilled as a kid that this figure was available as a mail away here in Canada, thrilled to the point that I still have that same figure to this day and he’s still in pretty great condition!

Lorenzo di Boneventura, the producer of the Gi Joe movies is the one that stated Hooded Cobra Commander looked like a K K K member and Hasbro has shied away from producing HCC since then. If he had spent as much time worrying about the quality of his movies as he did the hood he might have given us a better product. I have generally preferred the hooded version and bought a custom hooded head for one of my Classified Commanders.

My favorite Joe of the lot. Ordered him in early 1985 and after about four months of waiting, completely forgot about him as new Joe merch was out. In late November I got home from school and found a plain box in the mail addressed to me. Had absolutely no idea what it was until I opened it and remembered ordering him!! One of the most exciting days of my life! He currently resides with Wild Weasel in the gunners seat of the Rattler. Sometimes he takes back seat in the NightRaven.

This Cobra Commander figure is cool, but version 1 .5 is still my favorite of all of the versions of him throughout the entire vintage line. This one is my #2 favorite.

Great video of HCC by HCC. We got this one in a flag points mail away offer in 1988 here in Australia so he must have been hanging around for a while. Can't seem to find his laser gun now though..... wish me luck :)

That's the Cobra Commander I had and it's one of the few GIjoes I still have. He has a broken crotch, but I changed the o-ring and now he's in one piece. I tried to remove his cowl back then, but luckily I didn't damage it. XD

I’ve been under the weather for a few days and have been in bed watching a bunch of old reviews. They’re still fun as hell. One observation is that he’s entirely too generous with his overall assessments: everything is top tier. I feel like he might rank a Jerry Sandusky figure in the middle tier and commend it for the knee pads. Still- it’s great to have him back and hope he’s doing well.

A figure we'll never see produced again, because for whatever reason companies don't want to make the figures with hoods, I don't see how that is related to any such racist organization that had wore hoods earlier, but I don't understand the world these days anymore. This is only applicable to the hooded COBRA Commander and as someone mentioned earlier in the thread it was based on a dumb ass comment that Lorenzo di Bonaventura made. Here's the fucked up irony about the situation. Not only do companies still make figures with hoods, Hasbro does too. For example Baron Zemo and the snow trooper. I would love for Hasbro to explain to me if the hooded C.C. was "retired," because his hood resembled a Klansman's hood, then tell me why there isn't an issue with the snow trooper when he has on the whole damn outfit and G.H.'s new tattoo which on more than one occasion, (including on this channel,) I've heard people say that G.H.'s new tattoo bares a striking resemblance to the Reichsadler.
