I have the same truck but mine is a 1986 and I pulled the guttless turd 6.2 out and put a real engine in a 454

6.2 engine is NOT a Detroit engine. Detroit engines are a 2 stroke Diesel the 6.2 is not a 2 stroke engine. 6.2 is a GM deisel engine

Detroit Diesel built more than just 2 stroke engines and YES...this is a Detroit Diesel designed and built. 6.2 & 6.5 LD V8 diesels, 8.2 fuel pincher MD V8 diesels, and 60 series Inline 6 class 8 over the road semi diesels and countless other off highway diesels were just a few of the various engines built and designed by Detroit Diesel Allison (DDA) division of GM back in the day.
