Okay now I'll start doing the Bears 85 season. I'll have every game up unless youtube restricts them. I've already got one game up from week 3 so I'll obviously skip to game 4 after that. But it'll be in order on the 1985 Bears playlist.
Buccaneers offense is hot for a half but then the Bears defense takes over.

Thanks so much for these uploads. In 1985, there was no Internet or Sunday Ticket, so living in southern California, I had to drive to Santa Barbara to watch the Week 6 win over the 49ers, plus two late-season games that were televised in the LA TV market.

Some observations: Jim McMahon was quickly developing into a great QB. The first TD pass showed tremendous field vision, a great arm and some real guts to fit that in there. The next TD pass was a gorgeous rollout and he hits his target right in the corner of the endzone for a perfect toe tapping catch. The rushing td was nothing special but you can see his burgeoning leadership in wanting Jimbo Covert to spike it. Walter Payton sure had a special skill set. His quickness and shiftiness were awesome to see. I cannot believe that he held the ball the way he did throughout his career. How did NFL coaches not make him hold it high and tight? James Wilder doesn't look like a special back but he sure knew how to make the most out of each run. Solid vision and a decent amount of power. Looks like it took the Bears a bit to settle in before becoming the dominant defense they would become in this season. Gary Fencik looks like their best defensive player on the field in this game. Very physical safety, a ball hawk who loves contact. Good showing by Richard Dent, Leslie Frasier and Shaun Gayle as well. The rest of the defense looked flatter than I expected.

First game of the year and the Bear defense wasn’t clicking, it came to life the next week against New England

Jim McMahon didn't get enough credit. There was at least 3 games they probably would have lost without him. If he was healthy the entire season they would have likely gone undefeated. He score points, rest the Defense and limit the opposing offenses time of possess.. The second best way to stop a hot offenses is with Defense, but best way is limit their time on the field.

Chicago with Fuller out gained Miami that MNF game they lost. The problem was turnovers and Marino just burned that defense with deep passes. Marino matched up well with that defense because he was one of the few QBs that was accurate enough with the deep ball to beat that Chicago blitz.

You're right, Buddy Ryan overdid it that night, all he had to do was play nickel, but Steve Fuller was at best a third-string quarterback. McMahon was the difference between losing the NFC Championship game the year before and winning the Super Bowl. He made them a winner.

Even with all his injuries in college and the pros, I think it was that piece of crap Charles Martin who body slammed him that was the worst. It very likely cost the Bears a 2nd superbowl. Hard to believe he only got a 2 game suspension for that. Can you imagine if someone did that to Tom Brady today?

amanda davis The Bears for sure beat Washington with McMahon. Giants vs Bears would've made for one hell of a game for the NFC championship.

The Bears turned up the D in the 2nd half. Outside of the Miami game had to be one of their toughest games.

This game is more shoking then the dolphins game. The bucks were moving the ball so easily. The even ran the ball on them

First game. The 46 defense needs precision in order to work. The boys were rusty. And the temp was hot. Over 90 degrees. I think the Bears figured things out on D the rest of the season lol.
