Landry's best coaching job since the dirty dozen season of 75. He got the most of almost every one.

As a Cowboy fan since I watched them beat up on the Dolphins back in the Super Bowl 71, these classic vids bring back so many great and some painful memories. However, if you have watched the Cowboys for as long as I have they have had so many more GREAT memories than the painful ones. Cowboy fan until I take my last breath, but I can't stand Jerry Jones.

@Harry Engel very true. They got off to a good start in '86 but once Danny got hurt the season went downhill fast. That should've been a playoff team for sure. Maybe '87 too if the strike doesn't happen.

@@ericradford2142 likely but we'll never know for sure. 1986 was their last chance but once White went down it was over. There was hope after 1987 that they'd be on the right track but the bottom fell out in 1988. But the Giants, Bears, and Niners were too good that it's highly unlikely they beat any of them had they made it to the playoffs in those years.

This is essentially the last gasp of the Landry Cowboys here. Good enough to win the division, but they flamed out against the Rams and Eric Dickerson which they had no answer to. The next year, the Cowboys would start 6-2 and play the 6-2 Giants. Danny White was blindsided by a Carl Banks hit and Danny White broke his wrist. The Cowboys would only win one game and go 7-9 and having Landry first losing season since 1964. That was the death knell for the Landry Cowboys. In 1987, the Cowboys would go 7-8 and in 88 they would go 3-13. Jerry Jones would buy the team and Landry was gone after that.

Bias against Cowboys from the 80s. Seriously Jim Jeffcoat never went to a Pro Bowl (was really shocked to learn that), nor did Eugene Lockhart. Too Tall isn't in the HOF or the Ring of Honor either. Nor are Tony Hill, Danny White or Doug Cosbie. OK I can see why it might be a stretch for them all to be in the HOF but ALL of them should be in the Ring of Honor. They were all seen as the guys that couldn't win the big one. and while Don Meredith and some of the other players never won the big one either they came before the glory years in the 70s.
