Man, me too! I had a blue amp and a black Hondo Strat copy (still have the guitar).

Thanks for the comment. Based on the number of comments that I am getting on this video, I would guess that the Gorilla was a popular product back in the 80's

This was my first amplifier when I started playing guitar in 1985.

Thanks for commenting. I bet it was lots of first amps for guitar players.

@@mguess I'm really surprised how good of condition that amp is for 40 years old. It almost makes me want to get one just to make a comparison to what I started on, to how I play and what I have now. I remember only having a distortion pedal with it when I owned it.

The amp is in good condition. I'm sure it sat unused for a few decades in someone's basement.

I used to keep one of these, just the chassis itself, in the bottom of my 100W 1X12 Carvin X-Amp back in the 90's, as a backup amp head. It saved my bacon more than once, as that Carvin was picky about having actual voltage coming to it, and some of those college dive bars only had ONE outlet for the entire stage. It sounded ok through the EV 12L that was in the Carvin's cabinet, but we had to stick a mic in front of it because it wasn't loud enough. I pulled it (chassis only) out of a dumpster, lol. STILL HAVE IT. STILL WORKS. The Carvin? It died around 1998.

My buddy had a gorilla amp about that size in the 80's. It was really pretty good. His gorilla was as good as my Peavey mini stack thing.

There's not much to that amp as you can see in the video but it does seem to be well made.

You are welcome. It was a fun little project.

The cleans are probably good for preamp pedals infront of it.

All that is missing is the Banana guitar tuner!

If I find one in a thrift store I'll pick it up.

Thanks for the comment. I think it was many guitar players first amp.

I'd be interested in buying that if you're selling. I don't know where you are located, but when you're ready let me know!

I live in the Washington DC area. If you are local you can pick it up for free. If you need it shipped you can have it for the cost of shipping.

I'm down in Roanoke & drive up for work on occasion. I'd certainly take you up on that if the other commentor doesn't jump back in
