1985 MUSTANG GT 5.0 STANDARD ROTATION WATER PUMP SWAP WITH PART #’S

Switching from a reverse rotation (stock) to a standard rotation water pump to get a little more belt wrap on the pump pulley as well as adding a mechanical water temp gauge. Like and subscribe!

You’re welcome! Make sure you have a cam eccentric for the fuel pump. Fuel injected engines had a oil slinger instead of an eccentric.

I’m converting a 5.0 roller cam engine to carb but want to keep serpentine setup just like yours. Are your water pump, alternator, and crank pulleys from a 1985 mustang? Thanks and it looks great

This engine came out of a 87. But I believe 85 pulleys are the same.

Stock crank pulley.

I went and bought the cw572 like you posted but is the wrong one, that one is reverse rotation CCW. The A1 cardone reman water pump part # 28-225 is standard rotation.

Sorry if I misinformed you. Weird that it crossed over to the standard rotation pump that I installed from Napa. Thanks for the heads up.

@@natet1227 is not your fault, I look at alot of sellers and the cross reference is wrong too. After I bought it at Auto zone All I had to do removed the backing plate on back of pump and see which way the impeller will spin. I ordered an air tex too I will post the numbers if it is CW rotation.. Thanks

What water pump pulley did you use? Is it ribbed for the serpentine belt?

I used the smooth pulley and haven’t had any issues with slip or squeaks.
