My grandfather had this car in 85. His was black with the same color interior. He loved that car. I was 15 and still remember those super soft seats. I also remember when he got his 87 Tornado. He hated it and traded it for an 87 98 Regency brougham.

Your grandpa was not alone in hating the '86-'89 Toros, Rivieras, & Eldos. They did redeem themselves somewhat from 90-92. Eww! And the troublesome digital dash didn't help either, but to be a little bit fair, this option was the earliest version of what is commonplace today.

Nice! // My first car was a cream colored/ tan ’84 Oldsmobile Toronado! Had digital gauges, a sunroof, a build-in CB, & would talk to you when the doors were left open & lights were left on. Very underrated cars. “Coolest grandma car EVER!”

This car is beyond gorgeous. The paint is the lighter color that won't crack, fade, or weathercheck like the medium to dark colors did. One of 3 I've seen with memory seats and sheepskin seats. WOW!

I had a summer job my junior year in high school at the Olds dealership and the Caliente was definitely the top of the line, most desired Toronado. I was so sad to see it sold. Black on black. My God!!!

Thanks for sharing. Your car is beautiful. I had an 85 Caliente. It was gunmetal grey metallic with burgundy leather, minus the cat skin. It was a pretty car and comfortable but the 307 was not enough and the ride wasn't like a 98, but other than that, I loved it.

Nice car. 1195.00 $ for the optional sunroof and 895.00$ for the bose sound system. That is a lot of money for these two options in todays money ( total 2090.00 ) so roughly 6000.00 $ ... This is to have better music and a hole in your roof to see the sky... WOW.

Beautiful car. I always wanted the Caliente version just because of the stainless steel attachments around the car. Never got it but owned plenty of other versions from 80's - 85 's. I now own a 85 white, burgundy leather interior, burgundy simulated convertible top, and it has a luggage rack installed on the trunk. It's called a Toronado Roadster. Didn't know the Caliente came with the olds 350 motor as the gentleman in the video says his car has.

Nice. Your white and burgundy Toro sounds very nice. You don't see the Toro's very much compared to the Eldo's and Riv's. This Caliente is special and Rob is a lucky guy. Its certainly in the right hands. Thanks for watching.

My dad used to have an 85 caliente. It was red with a white top, and I loved that car. He sold it about 15 years ago and has regretted it ever since. I’m thinking I might try to find the guy who bought it and see if he’ll sell it to me, I’d love to have it

The 1986 model was also known as a Toronado… the Troféo was a trim level… the Toronado eventually was replaced by the 4-door Aurora… and then Olds slipped into a corporate coma… and never regained consciousness… R.I.P.

Wow Beautiful! Great Care taker. $23K in 1985 would have bought you a Caddy or Lincoln. I was on the show room floors from age 17 in 1979 all the way to the 2000’s checking all makes and models in the area. We lost all our Local dealers. Ford, Mercury, Olds, Pontiac, Lincoln, Caddy, GMC, Buick, and only one left is Chevrolet. Sad. That Interior is Opulent. Weird about the Vanity Mirrors my 1981 Bonneville Sport Coupe Brougham had duel Vanity mirrors. I should have never insisted on the Diesel Engine costing an extra $1800 and Depreciation of 70% as soon as I left the dealer and spent more time in the dealer ship then I actually had the car. Fuel Injectors, Transmission, You name it. Lemon.

The Caliente package was the epitome of all trims for the last 2 years of production, the seat material inserts was one of the major choices of customers in colder climates as to the feel it was much warmer than all leather. For much needed clarification, the correct name of the fluffy material is Shearling, not calf skin as described by the owner. Even Ford used this material as an option in the short-lived EXP sport coupe. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shearling
