You can tell Kevin loves his hobby. Thanks Kevin! I want this item. Lost a bid for one in a sealed box about a month ago. I had the money too, just wasn't quick enough.

I had it and would have traded it for a Skystriker and a Rattler. The Firebat was the best part of it.

Really interesting point about mounting the C.L.A.W.s! Never had a CLAW as a kid, but I probably wouldn't have thought of it anyway...

I got this for Christmas 1986. I loved it even though the fuel stations were overkill. Love the Firebat and AVAC Pilot. Great review!

Wow...this is amazing to see. These classic GI Joe stuff brings me back to when I was kid and EVERYONE I knew just played with these figures and vehicles/playsets out in the backyards! I really wish Hasbro just Re=Released EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING of Gi Joe one more time for us Adult collectors now that we have money to buy like the Aircraft Carrier!

Something about the Terror Dome seems influenced by Star Wars. The Jail wall looks straight out of Return of the Jedi. Even the cargo ports seem like the open face landing areas on a Star Destroyer ship... . That launch opening blows my mind. I would have fixated on that for a week when I was a kid. . Your reviews really let the viewer travel into the toy. I feel like I played with it for a couple minutes! You're really good at this.

My aunt gave it to me for x-mas brand new. she worked at sears canada. Can you say YAH for rare Canadian exclusives??

Some can be exactly the same (except for different packaging) but some can be very different. A good example of this is the Stinger from UK's Action Force line: the first version had rubber wheels, but later versions (sold within the same year) had regular plastic ones. A good place to start looking at international variants is YoJoe website International Archive.

Why not a throne room! Or a bunk house or torture chamber. So many options other than repeats. They must have been in a rush towards the end. It's the only explanation for this laziness. Can you imagine the epic battles for the throne between Cobra Comander, Serpentor, or Destro!

Thanks for watching! I'm not sure if I will buy anything as modern as the "Conquest of Cobra Mountain" playset (2003). It does look very nice, even better than it's Star Wars design origin.

At least for those of us without the money or room for one of these, there's the Kre-O version. Which isn't a bad representation of the thing, really, with some enhancements to the lower level and about as faithful as it can be within the Lego-type medium. Funny you'd depict Serpentor in the center, when Serpentor and the chariot are included with the set. Pity the Firebat is in a separate set but it does fit on the lift. I've been getting the Kre-O stuff lately, since the sets are fairly cheap now. The Terror Drome seemed well worth it at the $60 it goes for.

hi kevin, just a quick question, do you have any suggestions on how to get rid of yellowing on the cobra terror drome? did you ever take one apart, I really need to clean mine, and was wondering how hard it would be to take apart and put back together.
@formbx257
@formbx257 10 жыл бұрын
The only way to get rid of yellowing is to use hydrogen peroxide, but I always get inconsistent results on plastics that aren't originally white or off-white (shades of blue or grey may or not lighten evenly). I wouldn't use the liquid-only method on something as big as the upper parts of the Terror Drome - you may want to look into paste/soapy cleaner types like retr0bright. I assembled my Terror Drome here: ...So I Bought A Cobra Terror Drome and here are photos of disassembling the launch tube: facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.718980044788500.1073741856.295471453806030&type=1

thanks kevin, I was looking at your pics for taking the terror drome apart, I have hands of poop when it comes to working with tools and such, but I am going to try and clean it as soon as I can. do you have any reason why the plastic turned yellow, I have one that was mint in the box, never displayed, I kept it in the box, away from light, and I opened it up the other day, and it had a few yellow spots, it drives me crazy when I can't keep my toys in mint condition, anyway thanks for your help kevin, your a great guy and gi joe collector.

sgf129 A slight chemical vapor is emitted when plastic ages. Trapped in a box (or sealed in bags) it creates an atmosphere inside which discolors the plastic on a molecular level - not just on the surface. Certain plastic colors Hasbro used are more susceptible to discoloration than others, and moisture/sunlight/temperature are just accelerants, rather than the only cause.

thanks for another great review! you keep saying it's unfortunate that the pegs only work for vintage figures... i disagree! never liked 25th, and i wish hasbro would simply have decided to do new sculpts in the vintage style! though they ARE much better than the VvV or JvC figures that were really just too cartoonish!
