Thank you! This helped me out. I followed your steps and removed my console!

Excellent video--very helpful...thanks again...I just noticed that you didn't have a lower shift boot with trim ring--(that is what I'm getting ready to replace).

Thanks Andrew, I just google’d it. I didn’t realize I was missing anything that would explain why so much heat is coming into the console. I have to replace my parking brake cable next spring so while the console is apart I’ll add a lower shift boot. Cheers, Hans

Is there a way to remove the info center without removing the entire console? Thank you

Hi Scott, if there is a way to remove the info center without removing the whole console I can’t help you. Looks like it all needs to be removed. Good luck. Hans

Hi, I noticed you have an aftermarket stereo installed. Do you have a video on how to get the stock radio out and how to wire up the new one? Nobody on KZbin has this, you could be the first for us 85-86 guys 🙏

Hi Ozer, the factory radio was already changed when I bought the car so I can’t help with a video. However usually you pull the knobs out and there are nuts in the shaft, all you need to do is remove those and you should be able to remove the radio from behind you just need to remove the wires which usually have connectors on the back of the radio and potentially a bracket holding the back of the radio. Then cut out to accommodate the new system. Done several in older vehicles I’ve had and they’re mostly similar. Hope that helps a little. Cheers, Hans

Great video! I removed my center console because I wanted to install a hurst handle on my shifter box but I noticed on my transmission tunnel there was an additional metal plate that looks like it is stapled down on the top and the bottom, making the rubber boot around the handle impossible to remove. Gotta remove the plate I suppose? It looks different than yours, is yours the stick shift handle? As mine is a short shifter I believe

Hi diver362 , yeah what your’re seeing is lower shift boot with metal ring someone pointed out to me that mine is missing as I never had one - the guy who built the car previous to me never it back in. LMR sells these for ~ $26.00. I’m not sure if they’re riveted or screwed in place either way you should be able to remove it. I did have a short shift stick but I got a longer one that I put in so I can shift easier. Hope that helps. Cheers, Hans

@@hansparis5860 Hi Hans, helps me plenty. Thank you for the guidance. I plan to remove the short shifter handle as I prefer the Hurst style handle. I believe I noticed youre in Ontario, same here. New Tecumseth area.

Hey sir if you still have this car can you make a video of how you removed your stock radio and installed your after market radio? I have a 1985 looks similar to your inside and can’t seem to be able to remove the radio. I don’t want to break anything in my car I just want to make it easy to replace the original radio to a more modern one. I would highly appreciate your respond and video sir. Thank you!

Hi Ricardo, sorry the radio was already changed when I bought the car. Usually the turn dials pull off then you remove the bolts under the turn dials (nobs). You’ll need to get behind the radio usually there is a bracket also holding the radio once removed you’d then you would unplug all the wires. At that point the radio usually removes from behind. Hope that helps. Cheers, Hans

How does the radio come out please help
@hansparis58605 жыл бұрын
Hi Brandon, there may by variations based on what you currently have but once the cover plate on the system is removed the radio gets removed in behind the dash. There are a pile of wires there so be careful not to yank any other wires out when you remove it. Removing the dash pad is a good idea to replace the dash speakers. Hope that helps. Cheers, Hans

Can you please provide me with the numbers that are under the shifter cover. Also, is the shifter cover for a manual the same as an automatic? Thanks in advance for your help.
@hansparis58607 жыл бұрын
Scott Fisher sorry I have no idea if the automatic is similar than the standard. I find if you go about it slow eventually it comes apart, good luck. If you figure it out I'm sure some others would be grateful if you post a video. Cheers Hans
