1986 Honda NS400r ride and review.

My first motorcycle was the 1987 NS400R when I was posted in the Canadian military in Germany in 1988 to.1992. Loved it and drove it for 3 years and put over 86,000+ km on it. It was the best racing in the Black forrest mountain. Still miss it to this day.

Raced an NS400R at Westood Racetrack near Vancouver BC in Canada, from 1986 - 1988. Fun, fast, dependable, good looking bike. Good memories!

My dream bike was a aprilia futura and I got one! I owned it now for 8 years. My story was that I owned a 99 cbr 900 and the Honda dealer at that time sold aprilias and I used to go look at that bike all the time, finally the dealer said take it for a ride, I did and always remembered it, at the time I couldn't afford it but always said I would own it in the future and I did! Great bike!

I had a 1985 Rothmans NS400R and it was my favourite bike. It was so much fun to ride. At that time Honda were putting together some really well made bikes and this was no different. Well thought our and executed. No matter the cost of running both fuel and oil of course, If I could relive any pre owned bike this would be the one

Great video, keeps me hungry to finish my 1985 French NS400r model. I owned a RD500lc from Germany for many years and made a big mistake by selling it. So restoring the Honda today is crazy expensive and crazy hard to find spares to complete my treasure 👍🏻

Great find……. We lucky brits were spoiled for choice. We had 250lc 350lc 350ypvs…. And just to let you know ns400 was built Japan market due to their licence rules and not’s. 🙏🍩 Love from Scotland 🍩🙏

Have Moto - Will Travel this summer we’ll have to go for a ride on it with you filming to get a sense how loud it really is. It’s super fun to ride but in such a different way then any of my other bikes. I haven’t pushed it , mainly because I finally put some fresh rubber on it this summer, the tires it came with were very old, few miles but I think 10 + years old and had lots of dry rot.

I owned a NS250R which was a 250cc version of your bike (sold BEFORE NSR models came out later) except mine was painted white,red though you could get them in your colour scheme. You questioned why your bike was a 400cc not a 500cc , in Japan there was a licence restriction at 400cc so they made bikes at the limit of 400cc to market to more riders , apparently harder to get a full licence in Japan. My mate had a RG400 from Japan , a 400cc version of the RG500. Nice bike by the way...brings back memories....

I like your history. Matter of fact with being laying around with a cast. I have been watching plenty of battles, following Moto Gp Racing. Kenny Roberts broke my heart because I was a Gary Nixon and Duhamel fan Roberts always had that edge not because he was better but that water cooled Yamaha gave him the edge That used to piss me off. Even today I hold a grudge against Yamaha. I wished Rossi wasn’t so good

Just got myself a NS400R Rothmans 1987. I’m like yourself as I wanted one since 1986 Isle of Man TT races. I’m in uk Great video. What mileage is it now? You had any issues with it?

Enjoy! I really wanted a Rothmans edition but so happy with mine! No issues at all. I think I've only put about 200 miles on mine (I have 7 motorcycles and do 20,000 miles a year) she's is special and only comes out a few times a year! I love owning her!

@3:47 Yes, but unlike the Bimota, it is not insanely expensive. It is give or take 8 grand whereas the Bimota is more likely to be 20 grand and more. At least in Europe. :)

The ns400r was made into a 400 because the insurance in Japan from 400 to 500 is a big difference and would hurt the sale's of this bike for honda kept it a 400. You can buy the 500 kit if you wish. Remember it was a three cylinder nsr freddie won the championship on before making it a four cylinder.

I've owned many exotic gray market two strokes but never a NS400R. Beautiful bike. You should have shown more bike tho and less storytelling. My dream bike which would be impossible to own is a 1979 Yamaha TZ750

Yamaha RD500LC (aka Yamaha RZ500LC) I owned it for a short while and had to sell it... also owned Yamaha TDR250 and a 1988 Yamaha RD350... they were a hoot and the Castrol racing oil smell was what other bikes got to smell in tight twisties out of their pipes
