My friend had this set, and it ended up creating a lot of little projects so we could make one that was more...flexible. His mom taught us to sew little sandbags, and we used some sticks and twigs for the support beams. For the outside, we used some balsa wood we stained. The roof and the accessories were some of the only things we used!

these were actually always my favorite GI Joe sets, not the giant super detailed playsets or the special edition figures, I always liked the little playsets

I had that set as a kid, it was very cool and made it into a lot of cool battles, great review glad to see it again.

This diorama/ playset is great piece even in this day in age! I would love to see a 1/18 scale diorama based off the Outpost Defender made with loose sandbags, real gutter medal (..or something close to it) used for the top, guns for a dio used from the 1/18 scale BBI Elite Force modern weapons packs(..that you can find on Ebay) with a life like paint job & weathering! Nice review!

Kevin, combining the bivouac or the forward observer post with this outpost defendr might be a good idea; maximize play value!
