Was working for WERA at that race, standing in victory circle and happened to look down at Polen's front wheel. The axle nut had come off and the axle was starting to back out.....dude only had a few more laps til shit went wrong. Also, @11:45 Richard F. wearing what looks to be a pair of his wife's shorts.

Raced in the AFM Northern California series for many years so this footage really brought back a lot of great MEMORIES.I still have all three of my Gsxr's to this day purchased new back in 1986 and 1987 ( Gsxr1100,Gsxr 750 standard and Gsxr 750 LTD) Thanks for the footage really great to see. Amazing how much riding postures and profiles have changed compared to todays riding style, kinda funny to watch.

Right on bro. I raced with the AFM in the early 2000s. Still have an '87 750 that I've had 30 years now. Ride on!

I road races at Riverside and Willow in 87/88, I wish I still had my 750 from back then. I am jealous of your 3 bikes especially the LTD... 🤘😎🏍

Racing in America these days has lost something I don't what but racing back in the eighties just seems it was more exciting to watch I never get tired of watching these old races . I don't really watch the Moto America races these days the competition always the same rider winning.

World Superbike hasn't been all that much exciting the past 3-4 years either with Rea winning everything. I don't know if the talent has been watered down with a lot of great riders split between so many organizations (BSB, MotoAmerica, Moto GP, WSB etc). I do have to say 2020 Moto GP season has been the most exciting I've seen in a long, long time. Would it be the same with Marquez in the hunt? Probably not.

Why don't they do this now? Highly successful and obviously sell a bunch of GSX-R's.
