You Sir are a Gentleman and a Scholar!!! This brings back memories of being a kid and raising hell through El Barrio!!! I went from a Honda Interceptor 500 to a GSXR-750!! My friends all had Ninja 600r(s)... I can still hear them downshifting trying to catch me!! I didn't use the tach - shifted by ear!! Back in the day my moto was - If your bike doesn't have two headlights - You've already lost!!

Wonderful machine! I had an 86 that I bought new back then. I just found another and bought it and it's being shipped cross-country to me as we speak. One critique on the video, the background music is annoyingly loud to the point it's overpowering your voice and I can barely hear you. Besides that, thanks for sharing this awesome machine!

@@jaysen192 If you live in the States you stand a good chance of finding a good one. I am constantly amazed at the mint low mileage 80s sports bikes that turn up in the U.S, i guess because so many were sold. Here in NZ people are selling thrashed and crashed nightmares for stupid high prices, or mint examples for REALLY stupid high prices. The Govt, in its infinite wisdom, has just passed a law that any bike made after 89, that is imported into the country, cannot be legal unless it has anti-lock brakes. I bought a 96 TZR 250 SPR from a guy that used to import bikes from Japan, and due to delays because of covd it got here after that ridiculous law got passed. So legally i'm not supposed to ride it on the roads, but screw that, its the Sports Production model built for Japanese Formula 3 racing, with dry clutch and close ratio gearbox, its been derestricted from the Japanese 45 hp limit and has Sugo race kit pipes and ecu and carbs. it GOES! :-)

Thank you for sharing your bike! Watching your recent Daytona IR race footage, I'm amazed at the steady UEGO readings. CVs, by comparison, are all over the map, especially on a RAM-air street bike. Would outfitting your bike with a RAM-airbox work within AHRMA rules? If so, that would be a great way to pick up another 10 HP...assuming the Mikuni flat slides have a vent port to the float bowls. Loved the sound of your bike and the race footage. Music to my ears! That's saying a lot. I'm a Kawasaki guy, but I appreciate a sweet sounding motor when I hear one.

Beautifully done. Amazing looking bike, but I do have a concern. You have placed inverted forks to a 750 slabby double frame without first bracing the head. If you intend on riding this on track day, your head might bend or worse crack. Inverts are stronger than the aluminum frame thus placing a stress higher than the frame was designed for.

Suzuki does a Vintage Parts Programme, which does some stuff, good body work is the holy grail, and if you find any, guys are asking outrageous money. (glass fibre is available tho) I just finished restoring my Blue/White 86 1100 and got a lot of stuff from CMS in the Netherlands, but they are pricey, I got a full Decal set from RDdecals and just about everything else from Suzuki Dealers or ebay. OEM Stuff that is specific to early GSX-Rs is out there, but its drying up fast. Some stuff Suzuki used on other models and is still available. I'm starting on restoring my 87 FZR1000 now, and trying to find a decent nose cone is proving difficult.
