Man, i loved the 89' rm250. It was fast as hell and the best wheelie machine ive ever experienced. I had the engine rebuilt and blue printed by a local guy and omg that bike was tough to beat in a drag race. Excellent cross country and woods weapon. I rode 5th gear wheelies on just about every straight. Miss that bike. .thanks for your great work Tony.

Strange I found that year Suzuki an absolute dog. Couldn’t touch a Honda or Yamaha

I owned one of these and i was so happy with the handling I set about spending a fortune making it a competitive bike. Although I loved the finished product it wasn't worth the cost. This was the bike that started the long love affair with the small light feel RM's have always had.

I have this exact bike, completely restored with OEM parts, including the seat and all of the plastics. The guy I bought it from restored it 15 years ago when the parts were available.

I worked at a Suzuki dealership that year, the Eccentric Bushing Floater was not a good thing. I personally still have my '87 though, a much better bike. Thanks for putting all these up, I enjoy the content you put up! I recently picked up an 88 YZ250 which I've always lusted after, love to see content on that.

Great job. Mid 80s to late 90s was my favorite era of motocross. A mid 80s enduro shootout would be cool

I know that it is a bit before your time and that you may not have much experience with them, but I would love to see you do reviews of earlier bikes and manufactures like Bultaco, Macio, and other small firms that were big in their day but are no longer around.

The 1988 RM 250 is the bike to have. The' 89 was a better looking bike, but the '88 would smoke it. The '88 was more reliable than the 86 or 89.

@@jamieteal2107 I'm an open class heavy modded class rider no 250 amazes me nor is quick to me, ill finish this rm just because i like it but i had already experienced about every japanese 250 made in the 80's and 90's for the majority of those years the cr's where quickest, 95cr's in particular would keep pace with an open bike for a bit. I want to build this rm because it's the bike"Bob Hannah built" and has more in common with the 84 cr factory bike than even honda's own bikes, bob knew what honda did to make the power and gladly shared it, it still took suzuki 3model years to produce it though. I bought a brand new 85rm250 back then, and it was a total pos and ate roost like a glutton.

A version of the 86 engine showed up in the 87-92 250 Quadracer. I have an 89 and that thing is a rocketship--one of the strongest 250s I've ridden, that includes the TRX250R. I'd like to see some videos on the Quadracers, the 250 and 500.

wasn't it aetc? Automatic exhaust timing control?
@TheMotocrossVault
@TheMotocrossVault Жыл бұрын
This design was only used in 1986. The AETC was a new system introduced in 1987 that introduced a HPP style guillotine valve instead of the ATAC style exhaust chamber used in 1986.

@@TheMotocrossVault Ah ok mines an 88 so that makes sense, i owned an 85 and was so disappointed in the bike i jettisoned rm's for cr's until in the early 90's i had a chance to ride a friends 88rm and wow what a difference that 85 was a slug, my brothers 84 cr would melt it and it broke non stop, in fact it never did stop overheating. I spent every dime i made back then trying to make that 85 rm as quick as the 84 cr. Others had problems with 84 cr's pistons, my brothers never missed a beat and it was a beast, i just hated honda back then is all.

If you were riding an 85 RM250F and wanted to stay on Yellow for the 86 season, you were better off staying with the F, skip the G and look forward to the H.

I have noticed that you always trend toward the "negative' on the bikes even if they were in 2nd place. Seems like you are comparing the bikes of the same year, and not considering what they ARE TODAY! They are rare and worth 19 times more than they sold for when new . If you are just talking about the bike , kool but go out and find the bike that you are highlighting on your show and actually ride it ! Blenzall should sport for some of that. Make it worth your video time. You can do it and make this channel successful.

That wasn’t a great bike , but the refined 88 absolutely was even with outdated look which was pretty ugly. My 89 was slower but felt smaller .

88 was a great bike even though it had a outdated look at the time, tike you said. I also have a 89 and think they would have been better bikes if they would have continued developing the 88 engine, instead of the case reed 250’s that followed.

@@brokenchainmx4350 Exactly! Btw I did some jetting for my client and friend who has an 89 fitted with Vforce Reed , Pro Circuit exhaust, copycat Pwk carb and flywheel weight. It’s very strong and usable .
