When I originally watched this Grand Final on ESPN in the U.S., I didn't know that Olivia would perform "Waltzing Matilda" before the match; I hadn't been all that fond of her work after "Grease" - but then, she started singing "Waltzing Matilda" - and midway through her performance, I began sobbing. I just didn't know that she could hit me right where I live. I apologized in my mind and in my heart to our beloved Olivia - I just wish I could send her a note, wishing her all my best in her fight against a certain disease which shall remain nameless - I just hope that I'll hear from her. As for the match, it was truly a game of good, hard, solid football - and the Mighty Fighting Hawks did their best, as did the Old Dark Navy Blues - but when the siren sounded to end the match, it was Hawthorn that hoisted the Premiership Cup. Olivia also Performed Advance Australia Fair at the 2014 Grand Final, Won by Hawthorn as well.

Hard to disagree. The weird thing is that it was very short-lived. They only called from '78 to '86.

Good to see the presentation at the end for some reason the DVD it's not on there same for Hawthorn,s 83 78 or 76 yet other Grand finals around that time do have the presentation.

In 85 Lethal was chaired off having lost a GF, and in 86 the Flying Doormat suffered the same fate. Can be cruel sport! Both fantastic players and has their share of success along the way I guess ;)

Was the signal for a throw in, near the behind post, shacking both hands near the ground back then???? I've never seen this before or is it the umpires flare 38.07??

Yes. 'Tapping the line to indicate 'out of bounds'' was one of the quirks back then. It belongs, I suppose, to a different era along with the hat and the coat. I nearly fell out of my chair last weekend when the umpires were in white again. That's a different story.
