I still have my 87. Work truck spec, 300 inline 6, granny 4 speed, 2wd, manual windows and locks, 1 piece bench seat, dual fuel tanks. Bought it for $1800 7 years ago. Paint is showing it's age but it dent and rust free. Usual maintenance, tires, brakes, idler pulley, battery. I only use it for store trips once in a while but it's honestly the best money on a vehicle I've ever spent. New trucks are crazy expensive.

@@ROBinJVILLE yep she’s still going strong in 2024. Since my last comment 3 years ago I’ve replaced the starter, the insulation on the cable to the starter burned since it ran so close to the exhaust down pipe, I ran new cable on tucked it well away. I also had to replace the water pump due to it dripping from the weep hole. I’m going to have to replace the front flex hoses on the brakes since they are starting to dry rot. But the truck still soldiers on perfectly!

Guy where I work has one just like it, same colors, thing still looks great. I actually bought an '89 with the two tone like that except the colors were opposite, where the brown was down the side. Piston rings were shot and it needed a rebuild and I ended up selling it and I really regret it now, body was great, interior was pretty decent, and it was 4x4.

My first new vehicle was a 87 F150 Custom trim with the 300 and Granny 4-speed. Stickered for $9995. Bought it Dec. 29th 1986. Got talked into the extended warranty, that was an extra grand, my trade in was a 74 Pinto wagon I got $200 for, 9.9% interest, $265.13 for 60. But at the time I'm only 20 working for minimum wage so I had to work three jobs to pay for it. By 88 it was becoming a bit much so my Dad used his 81 F100 and my 87 as trade ins on a new 88 Suburban. That's how I got out from underneath it. I have a lot of good happy memories of that truck. And a few photo's. I look for one occasionally but all I find now are 5.0's with automatics, and I really want that 300/manual combo.

I never particularly liked it, my 79 F-250 4wd was much better, so was my 83 Suburban but it's become the one I know I'll never sell. (No matter how bad the front end rattles!)

they forgot to mention the 75 amp alternator was not enough for theses trucks and would catch the wires from alternator to starter solenoid to melt and catch fire and also the ignition module would burn out cause they put it on distributor next to the thermostat housing, ford got sued many many times for these things , but i have a 1988 f250 custom super cab. , this truck is a beast and i love it, i have done the ignition module relocation upgrade and installed a 130 amp 1995 mustang 3.8 alternator with the 175 amp mega fuse, now that i have done these 2 upgrades my sensors dont go bad nearly as fast as they once did and i been running the same ignition module for over 5 years with no problems, hope this helps some of yall that have the 87-91 brick nose trucks, they are getting rare, keep them running guys and gals

I had one of these. 87 f150 xl long bed.4x4 302 engine. 4 speed stick. First year for EFI . Windows sticker was about $13k. Bought it new from Naults ford in Manchester nh. Was a daily driver. It was a nice truck but virtually every feature they highlight in this video failed. Race red Paint peeled off. Ford repainted it in a recall. Lubed for life suspension all failed. Lubed for life of the bushing. Rear Antilock failed . Tailgate cables broke. It chowed though U Joints. Leaf springs broke. I got to know the guys in the parts dept. Eventually I spent more time fixing it than driving it. Truck lasted 125k miles in 10 years and rotted out. I have had several f150s since. They were all way better.

I personally want to learn manual and my next car or truck is more than likely going to be one, but they're dying. There's very little benefit nowadays to a stick. Other than lower repair costs, there are no other power/performance benefits like before. I bet they're fun to drive (why I want one), but everyone I've spoken to agrees that after a long day's work or during a long commute, they don't like having to deal with a manual. Personal preference I suppose.
@idi0televisi0n12 күн бұрын
Well they certainly didn't ride well, in fact most ride like a slab of grante compared to the Chevys and Dodge. However they are definitely built tough and will take damn near anything you can throw at them. It's a trade off
