1987 IROC-Z test drive Holley Stealth Ram .450 lift 204/214 Summit roller cam stock exhaust manifold

Filmed somewhere in Mexico. Not my video. Stock exhaust manifolds, flowmaster 80 catback, stock ignition, stock fuel pump, stock 700r4 transmission, CVF Racing 4 pulley 8 rib belt kit. No smog pump pulley, no emissions,no ac pulley, Summit Pro Sbc 8800 cam .450 lift 204/214 duration, Holley Stealth Ram fuel injected intake manifold, stock L98 throttle body. 30 lb. injectors, 355 c.i. block with restrictive 193 casting tbi heads. Has the 145mph speedometer and the tach reads high.

I've heard if you do a light port job with port match on the swirlports they make some really great low emd and midrange torque. I just slapped a Holley Stealth Ram on there with a small cam install, didn't touch a thing.

Idk about that, might be more like 5 and some change, but, I'm gettin ready to rebuild the trans, full 3" exhaust with shorty headers and possibly some Trickflow heads so might be a solid 4 after that.

Thinking of getting this camshaft. Is it of good quality? Billet or cast core?

You can look it up on summits website. There are a couple reviews. Yes, I believe it is billet. I have a 1987 and later full roller block, I lubed it up and threw it right in no problems with the cam. Only problems I had were timing related on my end amd a bad MAF. Forget to disconnect the EST plug when timing and This cam has a bit more duration than the ramjet cam and more lift on the intake side. Probably just a tad bigger than an LT1 cam or a almost a stock factory LT4 cam, but not as big as the LT4 hot cam. Sounds almost stock but than again I have flowmaster 80's and stock manifolds so it might sound a little lumpy with a low idle and some flowmaster 40's. I'm sure with better heads and full exhaust and no cat this cam would really wake the car up a lot more. A set of 1.6 rockers would put this cam at .480 lift with fairly low duration which would probably make it great sounding mild cam that produces really good low end torque.

Used this cam in a 91 305, left the stock valve springs. Noticeable difference in power from stock, still drove real nice, idled good, plenty of vacuum, etc...

Why does it have those junk tbi heads, especially if the engines been out and swapped for a 355 with a cam. You’ll pick up far more power with a dirt cheap set of junkyard vortec heads. Literally a 50hp if not more gain from just changing from the tbi heads. And estimating 50hp is being conservative when comparing the swirl ports to the vortecs

I bought it like that, and I did a lot of research. I believe jasper was using those heads for rebuilds for whatever reason. They're actually not bad down low they produce more low end torque than most heads at low rpm they just don't breathe well up high. I expect once I change the heads and do a couple things it'll be making between 375-400hp to the rear.

@@jeremiahwasabullfrog8854 vortecs out perform the tbi heads all around especially up high… trust me, its the most worth while mod you can possibly do to that motor. It’ll be a completely different animal if you swap heads

Find a set of L98 113 Corvette aluminum heads from 88-91. 58cc head for good compression
