This was really the peak of NBA. Bird and magic on top, Kareem and the dr still playing well, the young guns coming up in Jordan and Barkley. You will never see this again!

Lebron & Steph still on top, KD & Kahwi still playing well, the young guns like Giannis & Luka coming up. Not mention Ja Morant, Zion Williamson, LaMelo Ball!!! Watch out for Victor Wembanyama

For all the young fans out there, you are witnessing the NBA's best era. The style, the names. Don't get me wrong, we have great players now, but the 80's were "must see" NBA..

How do you not have the play where Jordan flips it up to Dr J on the break? This was Dr J's last all star game so it was like the passing of the torch play. Tom Chambers was a last minute substitute and he wound up winning MVP with like 32 points or something. (I used to have this on VHS tape and watched it 100 times as a little kid)

Looked like a little showtime with the Lakers with Magic and Worthy! Compare the 80's All Star Games with the one I saw only in the highlights of 2023 and they were standing around. I am glad I did not waste my time watching for the last 20 years. I just noticed that two of these I played with in the gym. Tom Chambers in HS Boulder-Fariview. And Rolando Blackmon came to the gym in CO with a CO native Jari Wills (RIP). They played at Kansas together. Walter Davis also became a friend of mine in Colorado. My daughter met him in 5th grade. He was so tall! LOL.
@manuginobilisbaldspot4245 жыл бұрын
CONFIDENCE, BABY! CONFIDENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNCE! Love how Blackman psyched himself up to make those FT's. To think that the greatest NBA All Star Game of all time with Kareem, Magic, Bird, MJ, etc would come down to Rolando Blackman and Tom Chambers. NBA peaked...never would be better than the 1987 season.

Amazing how good the All-Star game was when the players weren't all buddies with each other. They're playing this like it's a playoff game instead of peacocking for Sportscenter asspats.

And I was there and of course saved my ticket stubs......got to meet Worthy and Kareem as they were leaving and walking to the team bus and I guess Kareem scared everyone because I was the only one that walked up to them.......and Larry Bird who was surrounded by 50 kids in the parking lot.....all the STARS were there including retired ones.....Tom Chambers didn't even get highlights here and he scored 34 points and was MVP replacing the injured Ralph Sampson..........lots of the best plays were with Magic,Kareem,and Worthy........never will be an All Star game like that again.

This was the game where Tom Chambers got the All-Star MVP award in his hometown, but really it was Rolando Blackman that was the MVP. Were it not for him, the West would have lost the game altogether. After that, Worthy definitely was the next most important guy to the West team.

The 154 points that this 87 West team scored, is the highest ever, among the All Star MVP winning it, in front of his NBA Team's fans, when it goes to overtime, which Tom Chambers did as a Sonic, in front of the Seattle fans.
