I very well recall the MUF (Mulism United Front) Poll campaign of 1987. Their candidates were openly saying that they stand for Islam and not Indian Constitution. There election rally was always ultra hard core Islamic They were using Pakistani flag in their elections. And many of them were saying that there winning would be referendum for Pakistan. Frankly rigging the elections in 1987 was necessary for overall Indian Interest as these elected representatives would have created more mess had they won more seats
