Yes, that is correct-- 1.9 litres, which is 2 quarts. What I did was when adding the new oil put 1.5 quarts, start the bike up and keep an eye on the level while continuing to add oil. This way you don't overfill.
@jobloggs80224 жыл бұрын
the oil level check in the little window is when the bike is on level ground and on center stand or held horizontally and turned off not running, if you fill the oil to between the lines while it is running it will be over filled.

If you use an adapter on a torque wrench you may hit the torque click prematurely. Its best if you use a torque wrench to not use an adapter.

what is the key that you use with preasure settings i need to buy that one but idk what to look for
@DearMajesty12 жыл бұрын
only thing that was wrong, but not important is that you check the oil level after the bike has sat for a few minutes so the oil can drain down from the engine. THat's why the oil was low at the end of the video
@ubethejudge694 жыл бұрын
i think after you fire up and rev to 1100 rpm the oil rushes in and fills the oil filter cavity, does it not? You then when the bike is still level want to turn engine off. Then check level. At least that is what they do with car's??

It sounds like the last person who changed the oil over-torqued the cap bolt b/c it should not be that tight. Make sure you have the correct size socket. Also make sure the head of the bolt is not stripped. Use a breaker bar for mechanical advantage. Make sure you are going counter-clockwise (this may be obvious but i'm unsure of your skill level). Last resort you could grab a flathead and "chisel" at the ridges on the assembly -- counter-clockwise of course :D Good luck.

@moccina10 жыл бұрын
Fork Sorry, I did not originally see the last part of your post. The tool I used is called a torque wrench. You can set it for specific foot pounds of torque in accordance with your shop manual.
@theviolator239 жыл бұрын
Late response but that's a torque wrench. Probably not necessary for a simple oil change but if your going to be taking parts on and off the block, for example, you are going to need to know the torque specs (how tight the bolts should be) and your going to need a torque wrench (this one is mechanical so it clicks when it hits that pressure, there are also digital ones that a pricier).

After I start my bike a little bit gets in the filter and spread around inside...and makes the level lower; so I have to add a little bit. Also I had another washer inside either on the bottom of the filter or on top of that metal top half shell.... and that's why I was here to see where that one went... but you didn't even have it? Oh well, on to the next.

no mention about the small O'ring , and you didn"t swap any of the seals out , the capacity is 1.9 lts with oil filter change , good luck with that.
@moccina7 жыл бұрын
The bike was only 4 years old when this was filmed, with extremely low miles. The O ring was fine, otherwise it would have leaked upon starting. Not sure what you mean about capacity. I had 2 quarts shown in the vid, which is what the dealership and the owners manual calls for.

do not buy the K&N filter kit. the two seals that it comes with that supposedly fits onto housing that requires 14 ft lb torque is too small and too big. it will cause oil leak. buy the kawasaki seal and be done with it.
