1988 Acura Legend Tune Up: Cap, Rotor, Fuel Filter, Plug wires, fresh Oil

Today I'm working on the $350 1988 Acura Legend that has been sitting for 10 years. I have a new Cap, Rotor, Fuel Filter, Plug wires, and fresh Oil/filter. I ordered new injectors but they haven't arrived yet, so let's see if the tune-up helps the engine run better.

FYI those NGK ignitions coils are nice, but @ $500 a set & overkill for an 88 when you could have gotten all six for 75$ Aceon Bright. I just installed a set on my 92, and now it runs perfectly. I replaced fuel injectors, all filters, fluids, cleaned throttle body to cure my high/rough idle and hesitation which all helped, but not until after I replaced the plug coils, and reset the ECU did it start to run super smooth, quiet, cooler, shifts better, faster, and has a much wider power curve. It used to nearly give me a heart attack getting on the freeway in San Diego, but now it runs so smooth it almost puts me to sleep.

What’s the part number for the NGK wire kit and distributor cap? I have a Honda legend JDM with the turbo engine. Known as the Wing Turbo

Does anyone know what fuel filter fits in this car? I can't find a proper one, every time the thread on fuel way in seems to be too long and it ends up with fuel leaking all over the place.

I pulled them when I checked for spark they they looked good. Spoiler alert: the new injectors made it run perfect... next video!

Which parts were you looking for? the 2.7 in your Accord is a newer version than the C27A1 in the legend, but If I can find parts for this engine then I can probably find parts for yours.

I have a 1994 acura legend GS and it's a great car. My gas mileage is horrible and the car hesitates on hills that's it

I think Acura got it perfect with the second gen legends.

oils gets in the sparkplug wells and fouls the connection between the plug and coils on these cars. six new coils and iridium NGK plugs can be obtained for less than $200. I had to reset the ECU (unplug neg battery wire for 15-30min or fuse 15) for the car start to run better after the repair. The ECU set the mix too rich to compensate for misfire. Try resetting the ECU first.

My car idles 2,000 rpm when I start it for a bit

The Gen II Legend should idle @ 600AT and 650MT warm. It is computer controlled and warm up he engine at to 1100 -1400 RPM then kicks it down to 600 RPM. see my above comment for how I fixed this in my 92. Instead o guessing have someone run a OBD1 diagnostics or pull the codes yourself and look them up by jumping a connector under the glove box. plenty of j=how to's on how to get the codes.

@@6thGearGarage That's what it's supposed to do. AS long as it idles @ 600-650 when warm.
