When Acura released the Legend in the US they made huge waves in the market and opened the door for Japanese Luxury brands to take over. Thanks to @TminusNYC for tossing the keys, and Zumbachs Coffee for giving us a home base for the day. Also a huge shout out to my patreon supporters for making this content possible.

Acura partnered with Michelin to create the perfect tire for the Legend. It was also pretty fast for its time. My Legend was stolen one night and led the police on a good chase before the thieves were apprehended. The chasing officer commented on the surprise speed of the Legend. The thieves were caught because they decided to keep the car for themselves. I got it back in perfect condition from the police 12 hours later.

Cars like this just aren’t made anymore. This is when the details and the feel mattered. This is what made Acura so good in the 90’s. I would absolutely love to do a road trip in that car and would enjoy every second behind the wheel.

Hondas greatness peaked with the 90s. This was my first car in high school. Same year, manual, but differnt light brown paint. Still best car ive owned. You were laying in this car not sitting in it and driving position so low. Felt solid too like those Mercedes as if they put metal beams instead of sheet metal. They dont make cars like, this anymore. This was ultimate luxury.

You were saying it was designed for the track, and it goes deeper. Its an amazing endurance racer. It has oil, trans, power steering, and differential coolers. The auto is pretty lively too, and the shifts are fast for the day. The automatic type 2 cars had lower gearing as well.

Can you imagine a new car today that could actually handle oil temps on track that isn't a Porsche GT car? Even my M3 can barely pull of 2-3 hot laps before needing to cool down

@JayManZ 2002-2003 TL TYPE S looked better but you'd be stuck with the biodegradable 5 speed auto as im pretty sure the 6 speed manual wasnt offered.

@JayManZ 2002-2003 TL type s didnt offer the 6 speed manual at least not in the USA, you had to get the CL if you wanted a manual or get a 2007-2008 tl type s(much better looking anyway)

Nice car and really healthy sound! And I guess the longitudinal engine layout eliminates any torque steer. No difference in driveshaft lengths :-)

Remember that Audi’s have always been longitudinal engine FWD vehicles except for A3 platform (TT, Q3). Much easier to work on than transverse engines and generally equal length driveshafts to reduce the chance of torque steer.. Love these Acura Legends.. solid, sweet machines. Great review

Always loved Hondas older wrinkled leather inserts on the door panels. Something about the wrinkling that just made it feel more classy. Not sure if they still do that these days on their leather interiors.

That thing pulls so well and smooth for a 1992 car with 200 horses! My dad always raved about this car now I see why. I've been seeing more and more Legend videos pop up. Even Ludacris loves his like mentioned in the video which was funny.

Ted -- Regarding the volume knob (3:00), it was a very common feature on very high-end audio equipment during the late '80s and early '90s for the main volume knob to rotate when the volume was changed via remote. I suspect it started as a technical limitation, in that the volume knob was connected directly to an analog component that controlled the volume, and the only way to command the volume by remote was indirectly, by triggering a motor that turned the knob. However, it became a "look-how-cool-this-is" feature in an era defined by doing cool-but-complex-and-expensive stuff just because you *can* (no doubt cocaine had *something* to do with it), particularly with electronics. I've therefore suspect that Honda was trying to associate itself with ultra-premium-ness by including a feature that was common on the kind of audio equipment owned by people who drove BMWs and Benzes.

So many things to dissect in this video; 1: When I was graduating high school in 2003, the '92 Legend Manual Coupe was one of my attainable dream cars, along with the early 90s Mercedes 190E 2.3 and the 88 Porsche 944 Turbo S (the latter has shot way up in value) 2: I always hated thoae entrances on the Merritt Parkway, the Saw Mill River Parkway also has several entrances where you have to stop before you can enter the parkway, 3: I used to love driving on the Merritt Parkway. I also used to love driving on the Bronx River Parkway, especially around the turns leading into White Plains.. Those parkways just got too crowded with traffic over time. It's sad that there's so few places on the map where you can truly enjoy driving a car.
