1988 Isuzu Trooper Bogging Out: Installing New Parts

My trooper is bogging out, before I assume it’s a fuel pump I’m gonna try some other things first.

Hey a fellow trooper a trooper I just picked up an 89 trooper 2.6 four-cylinder looking up all sorts of videos trying to get as much info as I can it’s a cool vehicle need to turn it up thick some oil leaks us troopers gotta stick together

I've got 3 ! 1989 Holden Jackaroos here in Australia. all 2.6 petrol, 2 auto, the other 5 speed manual

The coils plug comes from the ignition module under the I- Tec intake and make sure that the egr valve isn’t leaking or sticking or the motor will not run properly…I would recommend replacing the coolant temp sensor that the computer needs for the fuel trim as the vehicle warms up or you will have poor performance and flooding issues once it decides to quit working properly since it’s a common problem…most people replace it first before throwing parts into it because it will run the same regardless of how many parts you use.Im a retired engineer and I reverse engineered my 88 Isuzu pickup 2.6 4ze1 4x4 and built it into a new one of a kind hot rod with all mods and custom parts.

I have 95 rodeo that runs like a dream the problem I've had is that it keeps blowing the head gasket I've installed 3 head gasket already and they always have blown between the pistons is 2.6 torque to spec and still goes out any knowledge or experience on that?

Yeah..just make sure the block surface is not warped or you’ll have to get it decked like I did and then make sure the head is the same…use a felpro gasket they make em thicker than the regular cheap ones and then you have to clean the head bolt holes really well or bolts will not be able to go down all the way and it will seem like you torqued them but they will be hydro locked..first 45 lbs with very little oil…just enough to see shine on the threads and then 75 lbs…don’t worry about it not being the proper torque spec because the gasket is thicker and it will hold better,the problem with these is the design of the head gasket by the exhaust side has 2 coolant passages closed off….so if you can get a head gasket and drill out the 2 passages then you have solved the whole thing since it’s a design flaw to warm up the motor.
