@patrickkeenan25156 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but that relay exchange in which Flo Jo barely got the baton into a firm enough of a position on Evelyn's left hand, that video clearly shows her saying "shit", realizing she had barely a pinky hold on that baton, yet still kept her composure and concentration. Yes Carmelita ran fast anchors, but times have changed and back them in 88, the US girls team have a very very minimal amount of practice in getting the baton around the track, unlike the much improved training sessions for passing leading up to the relays, and not just one day, not even just one week, but longer now. Evelyn did not have that luxury with Flo Jo, compared with what Carmelita had in 2012 when our #3 lady and Carmelita did their pass, which was so smooth, fast and accurate, that it seriously looks effortless with their timing b/c of lots of practice run throughs.

for women, yes I would agree. But for men, its REALLY very hard to find ANY relay leg, let alone an anchor than that one Bob Hayes did. I think the US was in something like 4th or 5th when Hayes took the baton, and this is in I believe at the Tokyo Games of '64. I have read that the SLOWEST estimated hand-held stop watch for his anchor split- all those years ago- was an 8.94. Yes, that is NOT a typo. yes and also that moment at the very end of the clip, when the interview of those 3 has ended and in looking up at the video replay screen in the stadium, Evenly pointing and saying to the other two "see where the stick is!", followed by Sheila and Alice's reaction's nearly simultaneous, with Alice saying "oh shit" (same thing that appears Evelyn to say while replaying in super slow motion the baton exchange from Flo Jo to Evelyn) as Sheila is saying an "oh, heavans.", as they look up and see Evelyn literally is barely holding onto that stick with what looks to be two fingers and maybe a bit on her palm at the very end of the part of that baton where Flo Jo placed into Evelyn's hands. Brotha, I’m trying to understand where you’re coming from. I assume you mean black people are loved and adored when representing this country abroad. What’s the story when they return home? I know Flo Jo, Jackee Joyner Kersee, Serena Williams, Carl Lewis, Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Marion Jones, Allyson Felix, Michael Johnson (to name a few) all got endorsements, became household names, and got love from the vast majority of the country when they came back as Olympic champs. As a black man, I’m trying to figure out where this victim mentality is coming from. It’s true that the trump supporting portion of the country is racist and that there is still work to be done, but a significant portion of this country is with us fighting to make that happen. It’s always a shame when I see black people allow racists to make them feel victimized in this country. We just had a black president, black representatives in Congress, and now a black VP. This is our country too. Let NO ONE make you feel otherwise.
