Evelyn was INCREDIBLE!! But for me, what made her even better was how humble, and sweet and likeable she was. It made me cheer for her even more. The 1988 anchor was the best!

@@thomasmckenzie4584 I am laughing now that I am remembering OFSSA in 1984. The Junior Girls 100 meters was the big race of the day. Aletha Thomas and Katie Anderson were sprinters from southern ontario, I think both were at Central Tech in Toronto. France won the race in 11.47 (w) to 11.78 for Anderson and 11.89 Thomas. She was quite an eye catcher, and I remember some guys behind me saying "she's white"...She won the 200m in the interscholastic record of 23.89 second place was 24.76 so it was huge margin, and back in the day when they always put the favourite in the inside lane.

@@dennisjacks7923 I remember watching Atlee Mahorn run Ofsaa for Central Tech. That school was loaded with talent but Mahorn was the best. I watched him win the 100, 200, 400 and the 4x4 at Ofsaa, and their strongest team, the 4x1 had dropped the baton before Ofsaa, otherwise Mahorn would've won five golds. I was 13 at these Olympics and my dad took me to the relays. I remember being so proud that France and Mahorn were running for Canada and were Ofsaa runners.

Although Team USA ladies didn't break the Olympic or World record that day, the dominance of their performance makes up for it. That win ranks among the most impressive sprint relay victories in U.S. Track and Field history for women...right along with Seoul 1988 and London 2012

Maybe I watched a different angle that had a better close up than the video you saw but Flo Jo was side by side with the Russian runner and was handling business. Again, they didn’t rehearse for this race because there was miscommunication with the times…Evelyn said that herself so it’s makes me more inclined to believe (even through the evidence speaks for itself)..that Evelyn had a late start.

@RK-pu5ek Flo should've slowed down a bit cause she almost ran Evelyn over & caused time with the not so good hand exchange..acutallly flo was behind on her leg thats why she was even with the other 3rd leg on the curve which is why Evelyn had to catch up once they got on the straight. If Flo was ahead then she would've been ahead of other 3rd leg on the curve. In the end it was Great to see Evelyn Dope Comeback to win Gold for 🇺🇸

Benny Andersen Easy Germany was part of the the Soviet Bloc boycott. Jamaica had a stick issue and finished last in this race, some 10 seconds back.
