Hi, thanks for the video it helps a lot.. My question is, the orange wire that you capped off.. I have an orange & white wire on the stereo connector side, should I connect the orange wire to the orange & white wire? Also, I have a blue & yellow wire and the blue & white (amp) wire which you left ziptied outside of the harness. They were labeled but my heat gun melted the labels. What do I do with the blue & yellow wire??

I have a 91 ranger myself. It already had a aftermarket radio when I bought it but I want to switch it out and I'm confused with some of the wiring that one of the previous owners did up. It has what looks to be the same wiring harness that you used, but should I just buy a new one?

Pry as I might, I can’t get those vents to pop out at the top. Those things are holding on for dear life - any advice on how to get those out? That part was conveniently missing from the video 😅
@MisterDoctorAustin Жыл бұрын
Update here: the vents don’t need to come out for the dash to pop out. There is a wire plugged in to the left section of the vent (the faux vent that doesn’t let any air through) which needs to be unplugged once the clips have been popped out, but otherwise the process is the same!
@golfboy83 Жыл бұрын
How was the vent removed? Did it just pop out with the trim tool? That wasn't shown in the video.

I'm totally at a loss. I've done 100 radio installs, and I can't get mine to power on. I know the radio isn't faulty because I hooked it directly to the battery and it came on. The fuse is good. What the hell is going wrong?!

Time to break out the multi meter to check your connections, continuity, and determine if the radio is bad.

I’ve noticed my 94 Mazda b2300 (which is essentially a Ranger) had the original plugs cut so that it was essentially all the loose wire ends. Is it safe to tie the stereo ends directly to it? If got the manual and I know the wires that match up together. The only thing I noticed is the truck has two ground wires (one black and one black/green) so essentially I have one ground wire I don’t know what to do with. Tried wiring a $60 head unit in and it got too hot when it turned on and the speakers wouldn’t go loud without messing up. Looking for some advice before I start a fire. Also bought a Sony unit in case the old head was using too much power for my alpine speakers
@jphunt49274 жыл бұрын
I have no wires going from speakers to inside of truck, have you ever wired speakers from doors to the inside? Just bought this truck a month ago and it doesn’t have a radio in it at all. Just a cover over radio slot. Thanks

Awesome vid Sir. 1) Were you able to install the track slider (from the back of the original radio) onto the new one ? and 2) The new radio bezel ends up behind the large Ford Bezel, right ? No interference ?
@ProvoBeastAudio3 жыл бұрын
1) no need, the metal can hold the radio securely in place. 2) yes, you got it, no clearance issues.
