Now that I think about it. It's also got a Syvalion vibe to match the R-Type motif. Probably more than I thought with comparing it to Dragon Spirit. Must be due to the side scrolling.

Hong Kong had this game at arcade store back in the day, it’s so advance! It’s a legend!
Well done, maybe a bit too reliant on the good old gold dragon upgrade, nicely avoided most of those blue upgrades too i see :) You're almost as good as I used to be at this game. It's even better with AC/DC Thunderstuck as BGM :)

Hello, I never heard of this game until I seen it in a forgotten gems video. It looked so unique that I can’t believe it isn’t more popular. I tried to find a guide online for some of its more trickier mechanics and I can’t figure out how to do the move where the tale wraps around you really quick. How is that done?

With the orange powerup, move upwards then suddenly move downwards. Your Dragon's body will wrap around you The blue powerup that makes your dragon shoot downward blue lasers is the opposite this: charge down then up to roll your Dragon's body to concentrate the lasers in a small area

Hot Shit! It's R-Type meets Dragon Spirit.

Yes it very much is the spiritual successor to R-Type which was also made by Irem

@@captainblood9616 I could almost tell by the music style (or perhaps the sound chip). I think the Commodore Amiga got a graphically decent port, minus a lack of music (not a surprise considering the ambition). Still this needs to be ported on some Irem rarities compilation in physical form. I'd import it if I had to considering how little I expect anyone in the U.S. to even know of it now.

Galaxy Force II is a bit dull, and having to constantly feed the machine to keep the ships energy up is a turnoff. This game is a quarter muncher too, but only if you don't know the game well enough and lose a ton of lives (The game is hard, but people can 1 credit it, and the machine does not require more coins to keep your ships, or in this case dragon's, energy from running out). While it's not as quarter hungry as a Gauntlet, I always felt this was a cheap ploy to keep the machine making money, relying less on skill, but more on how much you are willing to spend. Dragon Breed on the other hand, demands a player to have skill, something a lot of Irem games demand.

Galaxy Force 2 is far from dull. The trick is to accelerate and destroy as much enemies as possible. It’s all about carrying momentum from one level to the other. It’s incredibly unique and at least the game isn’t super punishing if you make some mistakes.
