The fact that its in this good of condition its gotta be low hours or in a rare situation it was maintained very very well and i think the reason for it not being rusted out its because as the person told you as one of there chores as a kid was waxing the unit and i can see that preventing rust but i don't know who knows it could be a combination of low hours and that.
