Yo yo, you left the bottom round collar down by the coupler . That's the wrong place. It's supposed to go snuggly up against the boot. It's a safety feature in case the retainer in your steering column fails. Almost every you tube video I have watched , everyone does the same thing. I called Borgenson and after watching the videos they are going to revise their instructions so as to let folks know this.

Good looking out. I just replaced one on my 89 ramcharger and i was thinking the collar should positioned up against the boot to prevent the shaft from backing out the coupler if the set screw were to fail... Chill with the "yo yo yo" .. Thats suspect.

Hi, Just came across your video. Really appreciate someone demonstrating an alternative to Borgenson. As far as the rag joint is concerned? Did you order a new one along with the shaft? Shaft unfortunately doesn't come with one.

I did order one but accidentally order the wrong one so I reused the old rag joint since it was still in decent shape

12 point 3/8 if it the original bolts from factory still

A busted rag joint will cause sloppy play in the steering so just replacing that could fix your issue

I have a 1989 Dodge D100 as well. I bought it well over a year ago and it has been sitting for quite some time now. I can't get it to run properly. It turns on and stays on when parked, but shuts off when I put it into gear. I've been told the distributor or transmission may need to be replaced. Any suggestions on what it might be?

Does it stay running if put into neutral? If it does i believe the torque converter is locked up

best bet is ebay there's a lot of used dash in fair condition popping up on there my usual go to place for parts for my truck like rock auto and LMC truck don't sell the entire dash just a dash pad

After replacing the front suspension I notice I had loose steering and after google the culprit was the coupler in the factory steering shaft and this new steering shaft fix that problem for me
