Great job. I just wanted to ask, we're all those bolts the same length? My header needed 2 longer bolts to install it. In the OEM manifold bolt kit, it came with the 2 longer bolts as well, so I ended going with the original ramp lock bolts
@jeffc8591Ай бұрын
Hello, about the header locking fasteners. They are all 1 inch? The headers / manifold for the 170 / 200 inline 6 cylinder motor takes 2 longer bolts. I'm looking at my exhaust manifold on my 67 200 inline 6 cylinder motor right now and it definitely need the 2 longer bolts. How did you install the headers with all short bolts? Thank you
@jeffc8591Ай бұрын
Hello, what size exhaust pipe did you end up going with? The headers have a 2 inch outlet. What size 40 series flow masters did you buy? I really need this info. If you could let me know, just post a reply I guess. Hopefully you get this comment. I would really appreciate any help / hints you can give me, as I'm doing the exact same thing as you right now. Thank you Jeff C.

I added the header to my 65 mustang and used the gasket that came with it. That was three years ago and I have had no problems with loose bolts or exhaust leaks. I would recommend a heat blanket of some sort for the starter. The header is close enough to cause heat soak to the starter causing it to fail after about a year. I wrapped my new starter with the fiberglass header wrap and so far so good. Nice job on the video.

I did this same modification to my 67 6 inline 1bbl carb but I put an Sig Ersiin mid range cam and had rebuilt the whole engine bored .020 over Man I got to tell ya this thing sounded just like a V-8 I also had a 4spd top loader tranny and it ran well but the only drawback was you couldn’t really improve the carburetor because the intake manifold was integral with the head that was my only disappointment *Did anyone have to deal with that adapter this fits in the head between the 3 rd and 4th cyl make sure to put it in and weld it the car will breath better if you don’t weld it in place it’s going to rattle

Hey great video and thank you for sharing the part numbers. If you've got the time to answer a quick question. I'm doing the exact same setup on my 67 mustang 200 inline 6 cylinder. I want to buy the universal exhaust kit on Amazon, but I don't know if I should buy the 3 inch or what you have, which is 2 or 2.5 inch pipes. Also does it matter the size of the exhaust pipes when it comes to fitting the 40 series flowmasters? Thank you 👍 Jeff C.

I installed my 200 six eBay header without a gasket. I used orange high temp silicone. The header bolts don't seam to loosen when there is no gasket. The bolts stay tight. I have zero exhaust leaks.

Yo yo, you left the bottom round collar down by the coupler . That's the wrong place. It's supposed to go snuggly up against the boot. It's a safety feature in case the retainer in your steering column fails. Almost every you tube video I have watched , everyone does the same thing. I called Borgenson and after watching the videos they are going to revise their instructions so as to let folks know this.
@thomthorne73064 ай бұрын
Good looking out. I just replaced one on my 89 ramcharger and i was thinking the collar should positioned up against the boot to prevent the shaft from backing out the coupler if the set screw were to fail... Chill with the "yo yo yo" .. Thats suspect.

Why all the issues with the sending wire? It looks like you were bending something around with the big screwdriver and the 5-pound hammer to get the sock connector back on?

Trying to get the electrical connector bad on snug. It wasn’t fitting snug so just did a light tap with hammer to have it sit flush

You make it look so easy, haha! It’s super tricky because of the compact engine compartment but it’s doable. Best advice is to take your time to prevent getting blisters. 😂

This is great to see! I’ve been building a ‘70 maverick with a 250 for almost 8 years now, finally getting to the fun part. Just got a 1980 large hex log head w/ the 2v conversion done and some cheap headers, rounding up all the hardware now. Motor is bored .020 over, balanced, Isky super cam. still running the oe flat log but with a 3 angle valve job, dual springs and upsized valves (1.75 int, 1.39 ex). Stage 2 C4 trans, 3.25 rear w/ trac lock. It already runs SOOO much better than it did stock that I can hardly imagine what the big log, Weber 32/36 and eventual T5 will do for it. Great work on your Stang brotha, be proud! Big ups to guys like you who have the will and the patience to build an old ford six 👍👍🦾🦾
