1989 Yamaha FZR250R teardown continues

I continue to tear down my 1989 Yamaha FZR250R motorcycle in my first attempt at restoring a motorcyle. I remove the subrframe and various other parts and prepare them for paint aswell as having some trouble with the brake caliper piston removal.

Track use only as motorcycle riders are often disrespected on our roads .

​@@LindseyExploresMy 3LN1 was refurbished before COVID 19 . Getting components was a lot easier than in your case as a group of us had industry knowledge to get things done on an "open unrestricted" budget .The results were better than in your case . That group of us did the full build over three days in a motorcycle specific workshop including engine top overhaul and carburettor assembly / rebuild . My motorcycle has mid blue and gold colour livery making her unique .

The best rider profile for these motorcycles is 5ft 4in to 5ft 6in tall with medium build . I weigh 73kg .

Orange/navy blue combo or orange/black combo. These colours contrast and really stand out but only my thoughts.

I should have rims and calipers back in a couple of weeks so they may potentially give a clue away with thier color, the new fairing kit has just been shipped so atleast I'll know if they are going to work or if plan B comes into action.

thanks for taking the risk on the chinese fairings Lindsey! i'll be right behind you if they turn out all good. and if they don't - i'll try a different vendor and see if we can sort out a decent supplier. i hope you ordered via credit/debit card - if they turn out to be completely crap you can always contact your bank for a chargeback. all the best m8

Yup, got my bases covered. I got in contact with the manufacturer directly so hopefully it's right after all the running around for it! hopefully it's not to far off but alot of work to get done before I'm ready to install that.

@Jack Miller From what I understand it gonna be another 6 to 8 weeks maybe more before they are ready and arrive, but yeah, you can come check them out when I'm doing a dummy run install before final paint here. Will keep you in the loop.
