Blockbuster and hollywood video took a good amount of my parents money for video game rentals when I was a little kid. Crazy how quick the market flipped on those guys. I remember when NetFlix first came out. Before you knew it they owned the market and then streaming killed what was left of the rental market. The only rental places left are some family videos in the ghetto.

The 90s was the last generation that experienced life similar to how people did in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Life changed a lot after the 90s ended. The internet becoming something that everyone had on top of the computer technology becoming smaller and more popular changed everything. I'm 33...I got lucky to grow up in both worlds. Before the internet boom and after. I remember having to call a friend on a house phone to see if they were home lol! If they lived close you wouls just show up and knock. The way you spent the day chillin with friends was different too. We still had the internet though! Dial up 56k was great let me tell you! I used to cover up the modem with blankets and pillows to keep the noise of it connecting from waking my parents up at 1am. I would sneak hours of Counter Strike 1.6 and Team Fortress Classic in when I was supposed to be sleeping. Anyone else do this?

Now that’s a complement! Thanks, Simonne 😁 I actually began collecting tapes back in 2013. Although I had a small vhs collection that my family hung onto when I was a kid, It wasn’t until the last decade that I started collecting as a hobby. There’s so much history and hidden treasure in a lot of these tapes. Things that people will never see again unless they are transferred to a digital format. So, it’s been my hobby ever since. Alas, If I could only be in my 20s again. Today, I’m in my 40s :-)

1990: when the US thought they were going to be BFFs with Russia
@hotwax9376
@hotwax9376 4 жыл бұрын
Heck, President Obama and the Democrats thought we'd be BFFS with Russia as recently as 2012. When Mitt Romney warned about the threat that Russia posed, Obama ridiculed him as being stuck in the Cold War: "the 80s called and they want their foreign policy back!" Romney lost the election, and four years later Republicans nominated Donald Trump, a man who repeatedly schmoozed over Putin. And ever since then the 80s have been calling the Democrats, vindicating Romney enough that he was elected to the Senate. When Trump gets creamed this November everyone will know what a mistake it was not to elect Romney in 2012 and the GOP will begin the long and hard work of regaining its soul from Trump and his fellow charlatans.
