1990 Volkswagen MK2 JETTA GLI will it run ? after sitting 13 years????

in this video I'll see if I can get a Volkswagen jetta that's been sitting for 13 years running again.

That's my old ride man. One owner out of Cali until I picked her up. She took care of me the whole time, some issues on cold starts, but man.. such a dream of a car, handles like its on rails, strong motor. I was going to replace the head due to some valve knock, but in hindsight, I think they just needed to be adjusted. Then 08 hit, split with my lady, had an 04 GTI plus a 93 Corrado, so I had to let go of my cars due to financial issues. Corrado went to this German fellow who used to race them on Nürburgring. Gave this one to your cousin, and now it's on to you. I'm still to this day driving the 04 GTI. Can't wait to see the resto, good luck man, show her some love, she's a special lady. edit: Also, that steering wheel is from a Shelby Series 1, the old original Momo wheel is still in my garage.

@@cliffsbackyardgarage834 Any updates? Ddid you get it running? This video just came up on my youtube feed so I clicked on it. I still have and am the original owner of an 89 black Wolfsburg GL in my garage with a partial VR6 swap. Mine has been sitting since 2005. When I took on the engine swap I was unaware of all of the parts that were needed to make it work so I didn't finish. The original motor was still running great but I needed more power so I swapped it into the wrecked donor car and let it go to the junkyard. I was not in a position to keep it but wish I had kept it somehow. I would still be driving it.

Yoooo bar is another measurement for boost pressure every 1 bar of boost is something like 14 psi

Did you ever get this one solved? I have been trying to get my GLI to run again after sitting for over 10 years. I had to pressure clean the injectors to get fuel to the cylinders, but still no start. I'm thinking that I have a vacuum leak somewhere. I think if you rebuild the fuel distributor like I did and clean the injectors, then this Jetta will fire right up. Best of luck. Can't wait to see more.

Man you got e.s.p I didn't I've given up on it like 4 times but I just convinced myself to give it another go in the morning. My issue is the fuel distributor I think I know what I did wrong.

Switch to carbs I had bike carbs on my 16v it was so much simpler and more reliable then that super confusing oem fuel system

Do you know a whole lot about them cars I picked one up that’s been sitting getting fuel to injector pump but no fuel to motor runs with b12 you know how to check injector pump

I'm no expert I'm learning as I go on this one. But I'm having the same problem fuel up to the fuel distributor but not to the injectors. I figured it out though there is a rebuild kit for the fuel distributor on eBay just run the numbers on the side of it on eBay. That's most likely the problem.

@@cliffsbackyardgarage834 yeah that’s what I thought that I might have a bad fuel injector pump but they are high and did see the rebuilt kit but this car the wiring is been butcher got everything hooked up expect knock sensors gonna need new ones but that shouldn’t keep it from running .

@@cliffsbackyardgarage834 Never. I have never washed the engine with water. I sometimes wiped engine components with a cloth to make work and servicing easier.
