CORRECTION: Just want to point out that Steve Smith was drafted 5th overall in the 1991 NBA Draft and not 4th overall. Thanks for your interest in this video. I would also like to mention that the Miami Heat had a solid and young quartet of talent, but that nucleus was never able to make it past the first round of the NBA Playoffs. What are you thoughts about the Miami Heat in the early '90s?

Gr8 vid. Kinda makes me miss when nba players were associated w/ colleges and when players played hard during final regular season gms. Some still do but only bc the play-in was introduced.

@@90sSportsNostalgia Ty for your content. If the Nuggets win, maybe consider doing a retrospective on the Dikembe Mutombo era Nuggets.

This 1991-1992 Miami Heat basketball team in the NBA was quite talented. Even though the Miami Heat had started their inaugural season in the NBA during 1988-1989 along with the Charlotte Hornets which they also had started their inaugural season during that exact same year, I feel that they should've been contenders throughout the playoffs to compete for the NBA Championship. The same thing goes for the Orlando Magic and the Minnesota Timberwolves which they've also started their inaugural season during the years of 1989-1990. Why did it took these expansion basketball franchise teams years to become contenders to compete in the NBA Playoffs, Especially for Minnesota Timberwolves which took them 8 years? Plus I like the fact the Miami Heat has a very good talented line up during that 1991-1992 season with Glen Rice, Steve Smith, Rony Seikaly, Willie Burton, and Grant Long. Now you did mention other players within the Miami Heat basketball team in Bimbo Coles, Kevin Edwards, Brian Shaw, Keith Askins, and Alex Kessler who also contributed to playing for the franchise, but let's not forget about another athletic player in Harold Miner. At first I thought that Harold Miner was going to be the future for the Miami Heat basketball franchise team who would help lead them to compete in playoff contention and to be future NBA Finals Champions. I thought that Harold Minor would be the next Michael Jordan. Although the Miami Heat were eliminated in the first round of the NBA playoffs by the Chicago Bulls during the beginning of the early 1990s, I thought that they were going to be the best team in the future. I would like to know what is the difference between the Miami Heat in the 1990, 1991,1992, 1993 with Coach Kevin Loughery and Coach Pat Riley and the Miami Heat in the late 1990s and early 2000s?

Worth noting although they were both only off the bench contributors, Glenn Rice and Steve Smith would both go on to later with a ring with the 1999-2000 Lakers (Rice) and the 2002-03 Spurs (Smith)

That 92' Heat team coulda woulda shoulda won a playoff game (game 3) against the 92' Chicago Bulls (the eventual champions) in the 1st round of the playoffs had certain trash talking was not directed at Michael Jordan. MJ dropped 56 points on them after that. Also remember, this was a team 2 years later in the 1994 season that almost upset the 1 seed Atlanta Hawks in the playoffs after being up 2-1 in that series (back when it was best 3 of 5) and would have made history.

I understand where you’re coming with this video. It’s your team and you wanted to shed light on a era and players that are overlooked. How did you feel about the Glen Rice for Alonzo Mourning trade?
@90sSportsNostalgia
@90sSportsNostalgia Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and thanks for the video. That acquisition to acquire Mourning was a game changer along with Pat Riley being in Miami. The Heat then became Eastern Conference contenders but somehow had problems getting past the Knicks in the playoffs. I liked those early Heat teams but the franchise drastically changed for the better with Mourning and Riley. Thanks again. Enjoy the rest of the NBA playoffs.

Back then I was hopeful and telling people the Heat were gonna win, but in reality, the Bulls were so much better. I'm trying to imagine the Heat beating the Bulls in 1992 but it's challenging. Thanks for the comment. I enjoyed reading it.

No, there was no way that Heat team was going to beat the 92' Bulls with MJ and Pippen. The 92' Bulls are to this day considered one of the greatest teams ever.

@@mak.lee_pnw5098 it's kinda weird coincidence that flaggrant foul was introduced in 1990/91 and that same season Chicago Bulls won the NBA title
