*As I got older, I began to really appreciate his later work. Dangerous, History, Blood On The Dance Floor and finally for me, Invincible. I think it’s because I was too young to the time to understand it. Almost 30 years old now and I can appreciate the artistry better. BAD used to be my favorite album of his. But over these last few months, i find myself playing Dangerous more than ever*

Yeah I tell people all the time this was the year that was really noticeable in change March 91 with Madonna still had the full bad era look then towards the middle of 91 is when he changed went to a lighter shade of makeup because of the vitiligo and had further work done the result is what you see in the Black or White video

I love this 'Year in Review' series the most. I watch all of your stuff but this is probably my favorite category of your videos. It's so well done and it gives someone like me a better perspective as to just how big of an artist Michael Jackson truly was. I mean most people have to die before they get things named after them, but Michael Jackson was in his early 30s and they were honoring him with awards and all kinds of other accolades. He truly was a king. Anyway, keep up the good work.

It’s a shame how the medias and many people treated him since the late-80s. The scandal about Black or White video was so stupid, Madonna or Prince did far worse things on their videos than MJ, but for some reasons both got a pass. So many couldn’t stand the fact that he was still the most popular artist on the planet despite the controversies on the press.

The deep meaning of the panther dance sequence really flew over a lot of peoples heads. If you think that it’s just an odd sexual dance sequence with no meaning then you are surely mistaken. Back in 1991 everyone I was around seemed to like the first half, but the panther dance made them uncomfortable. I was the only voice in my circle who was saying it was actually brilliant. Everywhere you turned, magazines, newspapers, radio, TV, social gatherings, it was people saying how sexual, odd, violent, weird, and disturbing the panther dance was. I wish I had known a few people who enjoyed it as it was a very lonely and unsettling time to be an MJ fan. Thankfully, that would greatly change over the course of the Dangerous era. Until, that is, it all came crashing down with the allegations.

That ending is perhaps greatest dance sequence in a music video ever! Top-notch movements, graceful yet fierce, like watching a Swan and Panther at the same time. Axl Rose and Guns N Roses was almost right there being just as big that is in 1991.. Somebody will know what I'm talking about out there. GNR's follow up to the biggest rock album of the 80's Appetite for Destruction. Followed by a 3 year world tour 2 albums released on the same day. This is when Rock was still outselling rap so if Michael Jackson was #1 the second biggest star at the time was Axl Rose. Kurt Cobain and Nirvanas Nevermind also came out in 91 which would end up being one the biggest albums of the 90's

You hit the nail on the head, there are "layers" in meanings to things and how he expressed himself and particularly in that video he was expressing his anger towards police brutality, bigotry, and prejudice but he does it in a way of dance because dancing is the "method" he chose to express himself in (hence the aggressive dancing, yelling, ripping his shirt apart, and smashing windows) a lot of racially charged things occurred in 1991 and he was letting out his anger. People for some reason like to put their opinion onto things before looking at a situation from all angles. As far as the video being "sexual", I mean it wasn't that sexual in my personal opinion, not enough to where it should be alarming or anything, if people have a problem with children viewing it then don't let them watch it. They need to GET OVER IT.

It appears MJ's facial structure changed sometime in 1991. At the Academy awards with Madonna he looks similar to his appearance in the Bad era, although his skin is lighter and his nose thinner. When he filmed his video for "Black and White" his jawline looks wider and his face more square. Everyone comments on his nose but the facial surgery is what most radically transformed his appearance.

Yes a lot of people can't pinpoint what it is but I knew all along it wasn't just the nose and the skin tone I think is changing appearance happened April or May of 1991 he kept that look for the remainder of the 1990s with just minor tweaks if anything is skin just got lighter As Time passed

Even though he released one of the best albums of all time. People never talked about how great he is or at least said nice things about him. Everyone attacked him because of his appearance and no one cared about his art. It's the Price of Fame (like Michael used to put it) after all.

@@thedetail. we need to here all sides of the relationship Michael Jackson , Latoya Jackson & her evil manager Jack Gordon who forced her to say horrible things about MJ back in 1993. Also you guys need to highlight that after her Divorce 1997 & her Reemergence in 2003 Latoya Jackson has always stood by Michael Jackson in solidarity. Latoya Jackson wasn’t evil she was being abused & controlled so please make the video Objective. Thanks ❤️🙏 🙂

I am a big!!! Michael Jackson fan, seen him live twice!! What I find strange in this video is the one moment in 1991 he just looks like the Michael Jackson in the Bad era and suddely he does look like the Michael Jackson in the Dangerous era. I cannot tell what changed. When I see the Michael Jackson with Madonna in 1991 he just looks like he did during the Bad album. When he is recording the Black or White video in 1991 he looks like the Michael Jackson during Dangerous.. like he changed in a day...

I think early 1991 was when he began lightening the dark patches of skin with the bleaching cream to save messing around with matching the dark and light shades of skin with make up. I can't blame him for doing it, but I think being transparent about it would have saved him the media speculation about his changes.

It is really interesting to see his transition from Bad Era to Dangeroud Era in a year. Also Dangerous is my favorite album of all time and i think Dangerous Era more glorious from Bad Era in the beginning it could of sold more than the Bad, it was selling really fast but 93 happened because of that Dangerous tour is his shortest solo tour and he didn't even had concerts in America also public perception changed against him
