I had forgotten how the umps didn't automatically ask for the ball after it hits the dirt. I miss 90's baseball man, even though my team wasn't too good in the 90s. Play Ball!

It's cool that he was such a good sport about getting spiked. He even picks up Gladden's helmet and hands it to him. What a class act!😃⚾

@@zacharybinx8642 Yeah that was cleat on meat right there, might have caught on the left thigh guard but still that was some impact, one of those rare instances where an epic bruise brings back a good memory. That was solid plate coverage by Olson, and what a sportsman too! Professional. I liked the instant replay angle the best 1:53:08

That 1991 Twins lineup was an All-Star team on its own.
@TheVCRTimeMachine3 жыл бұрын
That's not true at all. Dan Gladden, Mike Pagliarulo, and Greg Gagne were nice role players, but defintely not all-stars

@@TheVCRTimeMachine right they weren’t the 1927 Yankees or even like the 1999 Cleveland Indians. Those were great lineups.

@@TheVCRTimeMachineThe only All Star hitter player they had was Kirby Puckett. RIP to him but he was one of the greatest Twins of all time. Hrbek was decent player and Chuch Knoblauch too before he played for the Yankees WS teams in late 90s.

@@Melbester9Leibrandt was not the right pitcher of choice for the Braves in this game should have started Smolts or Glavin.

@@paulmcgill2754 Smoltz did start game 7 vs Jack Morris of Twins. Leibrandt came out of the bullpen for Braves in extra innings after Bobby Cox took Smoltz out of the game. Threw too many pitches and went 9 innings with Morris in pitchers Duel.

I love that opening with Ernie Harwell. Baseball was at its best when it relied on sentiment and history to promote the present game. As soon as the game embraced sabermetrics and tried to be modern and cool it lost the edge.

I forgot how weirdly dead it was in there this game 1 (compared to the '87 ALCS and WS in the Dome.) You could hear a pin drop at times, even with the Twins batting and w runners on, and when Morris had batters 0-2 with 2 outs. I remember wondering why everyone seemed so down. Maybe Jack Buck somehow put the crowd to sleep like he did the TV audience. They did finally get going when the Twins scored, but it was like the crowd was from back in the early losing days of the Twins in the Dome w 15,000 fans bored to death. Bizarre.
