I arrived in Tokyo in 1991 and stayed 16 years. The sights and sounds in this video really take me back to that time and place. I used to work and hang out around the south exit of Shinjuku station. I almost half expected to see myself walking by. That area has changed entirely since then. Thanks for posting your collection of videos from the 90s!
You have brought back some very strong childhood memories for me. 2 years after this video was taken, my dad was stationed at a US military base in Japan. We lived in Sagamihara, and my mom and I would go on adventures throughout Tokyo whenever we had the chance. I was 12 years old at the time. We had handycam footage also, and it’s a special feeling to watch someone else’s home video of some familiar scenes!

That's pretty cool. You basically lived the exact life my I would have in a twist of events. My dad was a DJ in Jazz radio in the US, and was offered a job in Tokyo in '93. He was all set to go, but after walking by my little sisters' rooms, he got real sad and just couldn't do it. Called the whole thing off. I was born in 83 so I would be 10 at the time. Very similar life I could have lived. I feel drawn to it now like I was supposed to have been there though.
