1992 ETC Television Special Ringmaster Ned, That's Me

While some kids had Superman, Batman, Baseball players..etc..as hero's mine was
Ned Locke. This was a tribute that I produced when he passed away in February of 1992. This tribute was worthy of a Chicago Emmy Award.

Woooow i remember him i grew up in my beloved chi town where i grew up everytime i saw the bozzo show i would laugh my head off and here came the legendary Ned all of my childhood heros dieying they dont make t v show s not anymore my god i feel soo alone

Wow,..I forgot about the 2 arrows that would go around and stop on the children,...hahaha,...what a great show for little ones,...I never missed it.....God bless the people that we knew, loved,.and have gone !!!

Only Chicago can touch my heart the way it does. My parents moved my sister and I out of Chicagoland in the sixties and whereever we went I could never stop from bragging about my home,. Sweet Home Chicago, As we grew my sister was a Lunchtime Little Theater watcher and as for me the older sister I went to Medina during the ry ❤️ Line Days,. IMy sis recently passed living in Boise but I just needed to say for her that for years. XD she had her email as BOZOBINGO,. THATS SOMETHING YOU CANNOT SHED. CHICAGO HUMOR and the Love that comes with it

An excellent tribute to one of my favorites Ned Locke. I grew up on his Chicago shows. Starting with Lunchtime Little Theater , and I have a slight memory of something like Paddleboat? I know there were a couple of others. But I was very little. I gravitated to the TV early on. And Ned was always there. I just wish we had more footage of his early shows. This tribute just got better and better as I watched it. You did a great job for all the Ned Locke Ring Master Ned fans.

WGN-TV Ch. 9 sported an impressive roster of superstar talents during the station's golden years of the 1950's through the early 80s. Bob Bell, Ned Locke, Ray Rayner, Roy Brown, Don Sandberg and Frazier Thomas all were exceptional men who were also multi-faceted apart from their public personas. For example, look up Rayner's bio online. Then consider WGN's announcer corps and sports voices. During their time, I doubt any U.S. television station then or certainly since could match the power of these broadcasters.

I don't get his reasoning for retiring but I can understand when one has enough as it's hard work to do what he did. I do seem to remember reading he had a stroke 3 years before retiring and I wonder if it may have played a part in it?

Ned said, "I don't cross the street for $400"? From what I've heard, WGN was pretty tight with a dollar. I doubt he made that much per show.
