Here's the original Salesman training video for the 1992 Firehawk. It was on KZbin 10 yrs ago but the user deleted it. I found it on Facebook. Every Firehawk fan should see this video. You can tell not just how Revolutionary Aerodynamic it was. But also how Legendary it was destined to become when it reached it's full potential as a Hawk. Unfortunately during this time period 1991-1992 were the last years of the 3rd generation bodystyle. And people were waiting for the new 4th Gen Bodystyle coming in 1993, so sales were low as well as production. And it did not help the fact that this Firehawk cost between $40,000 to $50,000. Which was more than a Stock Trans Am. The 1992 Firebirds & Camaros were the last American F-Body's to be built at the Plant here in Van Nuys California. Before the new 1993 redesigned 4th Generation was built in Ontario Canada and shipped down here. But on the bright side, the 4th Gen could never match the 3rd Gen's Bullet shaped aerodynamics as low as 0.29 Drag Coefficient. Cutting through the wind like a Hot knife through butter. And even the Last 2002 Trans Am with the WS6 RAM AIR 6-Speed Equipped LS1 making 350 Horsepower & 350 lb-fts Torque could not Outperform the 1992 Firehawk from 10 years prior with it's Corvette equipped ZF-6 Speed. Aluminum Driveshaft, Aluminum Hood, A 355 V8 Rodeck Block V8 with forged internals making 350hp & 390 lb-ft of Torque. 17x9.5 Wheels and The Same Brembo Brakes that the Ferrari F40 uses. The 0-60 times were 4.6 seconds and 13.0 @ 107 1/4 Mile. Only a modified LS1 could beat the 92 Hawk stock. They were Beasts. You could call it the Hellcat of 1992. But I have it on very good authority The '92 Hawks could easy hit 12.9 1/4 and 4.2 0-60 times. It really depends on how good the driver is. My personal best on my 1992 Camaro Z28 with the 5.7 350 TPI Making 245hp & 345 ft-lb Torque automatic with no modifications other than the Flowmaster 80's series Cat-Back 3 inch Exhaust, got a 14.4 Quarter Mile at 102 and 0-60 in 5.5 seconds with the original 16" wheels and 3.23 Gears. The Firehawk has 3.54 gears. Some sticky rubber will help the factory times. Very good video, would even recommend it! However, it won't work for us, because we retired in a 30 motorhome in Idaho. Still, I managed to find an exceptionally clean 98 v6 Firebird, and dropped an ebay turbo in it. The idea was to build a modern version of the Rally Firebird. Meaning 18 inch redline, low profiles over 18 inch replicas of the chrome five spoke that came with so many Pontiacs in the 70's Total cost? 5500 so far, but the interior is still perfectly preserved!

The story is what makes this car special. Dad and Daughter did good! My only question is why the TA tail lights instead of Firebirds when it sounds like you had a pair already? It's a dead giveaway that it's not a true Firehawk. Until you pop the engine and the SLP intake is gone. Beautiful car though.
@budgetbuilds85225 жыл бұрын
I liked how the 4th gen formulas had the TA tail lights. I like these tail lights better. I wasn't trying to do a nut and bolt clone. Just trying to capture the essence of the firehawk.

Nice work (former Firehawk owner here) FYI there's a guy in Alton with an original SLP TOTL muffler off a 95 Firehawk for sale. if you want his info let me know. Quick note, to get the seats to look closer to the 91-92 style you can use 93-99 graphite leather Formula headrests (smaller than the TA "GT" ones you have on there.) Also the Hawks used the stock 85-92 Firebird base tail lights which are pretty cheap. Again awesome job for the money you spent.
@budgetbuilds85225 жыл бұрын
I wasn't going for a full on clone. I like the trans am taillights better than the stock firebird ones. Good to know about the seats though. I have a hard time believing that the LT1 swap was easier and cheaper than an LS, considering you pick up an LS 5.3 at a junkyard for $500.
@budgetbuilds85224 жыл бұрын
An ls 6spd would have been another 1k more. I could have torn into the 5.3 and did cam, heads, headers, and intake(to fit under the hood) to get power levels closer to the 383 stroker. Parts and machine work are not cheap. Yes I could have done a stock 5.3 swap for around the same money or a few dollars. cheaper

@budgetbuilds85224 жыл бұрын
That was stated in the video. What I said was I only had 5k out if my pocket to build the car. Yes I could have bought and parted cars out and made pure money. What I was doing however was showing that you can build something fun on a limited starting budget and never having to add more money on it.
@macario54484 жыл бұрын
But let's be honest. Would u have done this car with only 5k? No u wouldn't. U had to sell and make more money to do ao. So how much money does it add up with all u spent?

I used parts from parts cars so I paid nothing for those but If I give a used value to those parts, the car probably has 8.5-9k in it
