@@neilpalmer5577 Its ALL political. When you're instructors give you the judges tapes every night on the bus and you laugh at the stupid judges, then you know you're in a real drum corps. Madison Scouts used to be all about entertaining the fans, no matter who was in the audience -- not about doing what the judges were telling us to do.

7:45-7:55 yum! The low brass power from the G bugles is what I miss most. Hornlines today just don't sound the same.
@JohnSmith-zi9or3 жыл бұрын
I agree completely. That is my biggest gripe about today's DCI. The brass section seems flat and dull to me. There are several moments in this show when the percussion line is in front of the brass when the brass section comes back in and hits a push and they would absolutely give me goosebumps.
@jared01114 жыл бұрын
i really love that chaotic leading tone by the high brass at 11:06, as the low brass plays those three descending notes. there's some kind of harmony in the chord that adds a lot to the franticness.

Like anything else, the old stuff will never get old to the older folk… Madison Corps, regardless of years, will always try to entertain while giving kids in the program(s), a good experience. My musical knowledge was catapulted by marching corps, and my work ethic was also enhanced. I almost say this sheepishly, but in 2027, it’ll be 30 years since I aged out… but the memories are strong and these videos are historic treasures for those who were involved. Politics now within the activity, putting them and my opinion aside, I hope todays youth can appreciate the thousands of feet, upon thousands of feet, both participant and fan, that came before you so you could march today. Please keep the activity going, no matter where you march or how you are involved. (getting off my box now…)

that is because they were NOT a band. They had drums & BUGLES . . . . . that is the whole controversy with corps of this day and age. They have brass band instruments (probably will have woodwinds soon) . . . . . why is that so hard for this generation to figure out ? ? . . . . a bugle is a brass instrument in a class by itself.

I marched in a Div 2 Corp in 1989 and 1990 and Div 1 Corps in 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994, the type of image of a Corp that you are referring to ALWAYS comes down to two bodies, 1. The Executive Board and 2. The Instructional and Arranging Staff.
@RyanBoots4 жыл бұрын
@@anonymoussithlord5753 I have followed the activity since I was 17. I've watched Madison's shows before and after 2000. What on earth was supposedly so horrific with their show designs or visual execution that caused them to suddenly fall apart from 2000 onward?
@anonymoussithlord57534 жыл бұрын
@@RyanBoots Ryan, what you are talking about delves for the majority into the creative team. I.E. the drill writer and marching staff. However, as a whole, you can put this on the entire staff as it is their job to do repeated run throughs until every facet of the drill, marching and overall presentation of the show is locked down tight. I honestly believe what you are seeing is the newer generations of stafff either NEVER marched and was just hired based on word of mouth in the DCI community, which sad to it, happens quite often or they are old timers that need to call it quits and have gotten lazy which happens also.
@anonymoussithlord57534 жыл бұрын
@@RyanBoots If you can give me the year of the WORST example that comes to your mind, I can research and find out who the staff members were and give you a more definitive answer. When I marched, I had the hard-core instructors like Kevin, Tabb, Mike McCray, Tom Aungst, Jim Campbell, ScoJo, Casella, and so on, those guys were intense and didnt f around.
