11:56 Was out taking my 1993 500SEL for a short drive today and this exact song came on the Becker stereo. What a coincidence! The song is Nothin' But A Good Time by Poison. Took me a while to find that song online.

Your video came in my suggestions and after watching I was surprised how similar our vids were. You got lucky finding one with 5k miles!!

@@w140chris Thanks! Our cars are pretty much similar and even have the exact same color! Interestingly, on my 93' model, both rear headrests go up when the power headrest button is pressed (as I have demonstrated in my video), while your car only seems to do it for the passenger side. I don't know if they did this from the factory, or if on your car, the linkage got cut off from the front, but not the rear.

@@w140chris I bought a 1992 W140 300SD in 1998 I bought an extended warranty....it paid $20K in repairs at the local Mercedes Benz dealer. This was 20 years ago It all started with the Evap core. A $4000 repair at the Mercedes dealer 20 years ago

@@turnne Since 2018 had to replace the engine wiring harness, rear SLS accumulators and shocks, valve cover gaskets, some front end bits, throttle position sensor, rear window regulator, and still currently need to fix the blown stereo. All in about $8k in repairs & maintenance so far. But not a nickel other than oil change in the past 6 months lol.

@@w140chris Well..knock on wood you have had no A/C issues. These were notorious for Evap core failures. The whole dash had to be disassembled to get to it. My car had actually been done twice. One with the original owner and once when I owned it I also noticed yours has the original analog instrument cluster. Mine had replaced with the newer digital one due the analog one shorting out There was a recall/campaign on the cluster back then

This grill is really not the "classic" grill...I suppose you are going by it's recognizable as a Benz. SL's aside, as the R-129 in 1990 and the previous SL were always a breed of their own as far as grill (the emblem in the grill itself and not top mount. The 1992 W140 actually was the introduction of what is really a MAJOR redesign of the Mercedes grill, whereas the "classic" grill had a grill surround and appeared independent of itself with the Mercedes land/sea/air hood ornament mounted onto the top of the grill itself...this design was used across the range for generations of models. The 1992 W140/S-class, and the flagship most always introduces various things, for the the lesser series to adopt, but the 1992 S-class debuted a MAJOR redesign of the "classic" Mercedes grill. Gone was the heavy grill surround of the grill itself, and just the interior section, if you will, of the "classic" grill, was inset into the hood itself w/the hood body color surrounding the grill....so therefore, the Benz star hood was then hood mounted, and not grill mounted...this was a MAJOR grill redesign really. So, 1992 S-class was the debut of the new grill design, gone was the "classic" grill of the W126/1991 S-class, the refresh of the W126 in 1994 incorporated the new grill of the 1992 S-class, and C-class in 1994 then used the new grill design as the outgoing 190e had the "classic" grill. Just saying, refering to the W140 as having the "classic" grill is about like saying the current Cadillac ornament, that thing that looks rectangular like a Chevrolet ornament is the "classic" Caddy ornament, when the wreath and crest which dates back nearly forever would be considered the "classic" one. Call the grill what you want, IDC, but with the demise of the heavy grill surround and the ornament mounted onto the grill itself....all looking like an independent unit mounted to the front of the hood is the "classic" grill, IMO....see it differently if you want, but 1992-1994 of 3 various series saw the introduction of a MAJOR rework of the grill design used across the board, so different that I don't see how it can be called a "classic" grill...it's a significant redesign. Nice car btw!
