0:57 it's funny, that's the first time I can remember seeing anyone pose for your video camera in these videos you've posted Lyle. :P I'm going to assume that very few people actually did this back then unlike now in regards to both filming and people also acknowledging it too?

Up until not very long before this, video was via film, and it was a kind of magical (and expensive) thing to record motion. The camera I was using cost close to $2,000 and was rather fragile. Lots of intricate moving parts and an analog signal recorded on a very small tape diagonally via very tiny heads spinning at high speed on a drum. Actually it's kind of amazing that it worked at all. Since they were expensive, and fragile, most people didn't own them, and the ones who did tended to only use them for events, like the motor show (lots of video cameras there!) and school events recorded by parents.
