For me, the original is such a beautifully proportioned machine. I'm not keen on the minimalist bodywork of modern sports bikes

It seems to me that most modern sportsbikes have lost a lot of character. The bikes from the 90s era were a lot more different. Look for example at suzuki, kawasaki, honda and yamaha then vs now. The new gsxr, zx10r, cbr1000rr and r1 are a lot more alike then the gsxr750 SRAD, zxr750, cbr 900rr and the fzr1000exup. All of those bikes had their own perks and special character.

I may be biased cause I have one but for me the 1990 GSXR1100 was the prettiest bike. The finish is supperb too with zero rust anywhere despite all weather riding

Back then they were just building bikes by their own standards. Now it's a competition. They are trying to get the average consumer as close to the moto gp experience as possible.

I remember the first time I saw the 93 CBR900rr, I thought it was the best looking bike ever made, many sleepless nights dreaming about buying one. At the time I was riding the 93 Kawasaki ZX7 (Candywine with black frame) These sport bikes from the early nineties hold a special place in my heart. Four years ago I found a 96 Kawasaki ZX9R (another bike I always wanted) and refuse to give it up even after buying a new ZX14R. There's something magical about these bikes.

Maybe the big four will eventually take a retro cue from Ford, Chevy, and Dodge, (Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger) and go backward a bit to move forward. I prefer the looks of the CBR 900 RR myself, but I'm getting to be an old geezer now anyway, in my 40's. They were the baddest, meanest looking bikes to me, though. Wish I had one now !!!

I remember when the 900rr came out. At the time, the GSXR 1100 was the King. I was at a motorcycle dealership and a salesman, who owned a GSXR 1100 was saying how he got dusted by the new 900rr. The pinholes on the fairings were so radical at the time. No motorcycle had those pinholes. Homda said they helped with aerodynamics, but it might have been a slick gimmick. That bike ROCKED the industry. I would compare it to the debut of the Bugati Veyron. No one had seen anything like it.

@lillnemo1 8 жыл бұрын
+Sajid Mirza the ones that end up in fatal accidents is either the ones who get hit by a car or who dont drive safely has absolutely NOTHING to do with whatever bike you drive be it a hyosung or a honda
@mirzasaj
@mirzasaj 8 жыл бұрын
+lillnemo1 you are right indeed i used to think the same until recently when i was riding my honda cbr 1000 2010 model and on high speed soon after i took a sharp turn the front wheel wobbled dangerously and i was about to crash lucky me i thought the wheelie in that situation will be a solution and that litterally saved me from crashing i think its due to the bikes weight unfortuately but my old cbr 1000 2007 in 10years never did that so i will leave on you to judge it.
@lillnemo1
@lillnemo1 8 жыл бұрын
Sajid Mirza Well, offcourse every bike is different, but so is every tire. Take two of the same bikes and put different tires on them, it's very likely both bikes will behave different. Apart from that, maybe your new bike has more torque or power or different chassis-setup... There are SOOOOOOO many factors that can cause a wobble or a crash, but ultimately, it's all about the driver who needs to know what HE can do with THAT bike. If you crash while not being hit by a car, it's YOUR fault. simple as that. And I know by experience, cause I fell a lot last year on the track. Granted, I bought my first bike and didn't check suspension setup and eventually it seemed there just wasnt any suspension, that hard was it set up. But that's just the point: I SHOULD KNOW what's going on with my bike

It's not even that the 2010 bike looks bad, because it doesn't, it's just that so many bikes have looked just like that for so long that the appeal of the dark, pointy, aggressive looking streetbike has kind of faded away for most people. We get that pretty much all bikes are capable of reaching mindblowing speeds now and we get that the companies that build them want the styling to reflect that but what happened to the big proud bikes with the wild colors and crazy zig-zags that instantly fired up the imagination the moment you looked at them? The 2010 looks like it's ready to get you to where you need to be but the 1993 looks like IT is where you need to be.

Hate how pointy modern sportbikes have become. ESPECIALLY hate the license plate brackets hanging down half a metre. What's the point of looking like a dagger then hanging an oversize bracket off of it. To me, the older CBR looks much more proportionate, much less "try hard." I'd feel like a wanker riding that modern bike, but comfortable and happy to ride the older model!
