@@LawrenceTolman: I've thought about doing that as well. And too it would be real convenient to have a slide on slide off counter weight system for the rear. Something like a body building bench press set up. It would be real nice to quickly add 50 lbs at a time to the rear just by sliding it on, the same as you would for a bench press bar. Most of the time we only need a couple hundred max to stabilize the thing... But when we don't have the extra weight, well, life is a dance as I know you already know. Cheers 🍻.

You mentioned a fuel pressure regulator. The sniper has one internally in the fuel rail. You will need an external one if you need boost referenced fuel pressure increases.

This was the super sniper that looks like the 4150 carb, I didn’t know if those had the regulator or not…
@EricErnst3 жыл бұрын
@@LawrenceTolman mine is the standard 4150 sniper with only 4 injectors. I have my feed on the rear driver's side and my return coming from the rear passenger's side fuel rail. I used 90⁰ AN fittings. I slapped a centrifugal supercharger on and have been just using the self learning feature to just have higher duty cycle for correct fueling to compensate for lower fuel pressure when under boost. I've got an external boost referenced fuel pressure regulator but I haven't installed it yet. I still have the front end blown apart and need to get it all put back together. I'm pretty sure the super sniper would have the same included regulator.
@EricErnst3 жыл бұрын
@@LawrenceTolman there should be a round flange with an AN fitting on the back of the snipers fuel rail. 4 screws hold it in place. The regulator is behind those screws. I just looked up a replacement fuel pressure regulator for sniper. They show a picture and everything. It's for 4150 and 2bbl 2300 snipers. It should be preset to 59.5psi. Check holley pn 12-878
@EricErnst3 жыл бұрын
@@LawrenceTolman Sniper Instructions 1. Locate the regulator cover on your throttle body unit. 4150, 2300, BBD, and 2GC units will have covers like the one shown in the photo on the left below. Autolite 1100 models will have a cover like the one shown in the photo on the right below. Be sure to note the orientation of the regulator cover. 2. Remove the return line from the AN fitting on the cover (if applicable). 3. Remove the four fasteners on the perimeter of the cover that retain the cover to the unit. At this point, the regulator should be visible. 4. Pry out the regulator with a small flat blade screwdriver. Pry from alternate sides until removed. 5. Install the new regulator by pressing on the perimeter flange only until it bottoms in the housing. Lubricate the regulator O-ring to ease installation. WARNING -- DO NOT PRESS ON THE CENTER OF THE REGULATOR, THIS WILL RESULT IN DAMAGE! 6. Replace the O-ring gasket that seals the cover the unit. For the 4150, 2300, BBD, and 2GC models, use the larger O-ring supplied in the kit. For the Autolite 1100, the smaller O-ring must be used. (Note: For prolonged O-ring life, it is recommended that you lubricate the O-ring prior to installation with a silicone-based grease or oil.) 7. Re-install the four fasteners to retain the cover to the unit. Apply one drop of blue thread locker to the threads of each fastener. Torque fasteners to 15-10 in-lbs. 8. Reinstall return line (if applicable).

Anyone who’s ever done any sort of swap on any ford will tell you this is to be expected. I went through this with a 302 and a top loader 4 speed 40 years ago and doubled down on stupid and went through a similar situation with a 400 to 460 swap into a 79’ 1ton pickup. Engine and transmission, perfect, motor mounts, perfect. Accessory drive…sideways it went and straight to the bone yard I went looking for anything with a 385 series plant under the hood. Many hours and some light fabrication and we had a running piece. It shouldn’t be this way but Ford doesn’t want you touching their junk. I concede and don’t touch their junk anymore. I drive Chevrolet’s now and the only Ford I own has a big block Chevy under the hood. I always enjoy watching your channel. Great projects and content. Great music too. My 6L90 talks back and forth with the E38 ECM constantly to control torque, gear selection, and lockup. That aftermarket install will need some serious smarts-it seems like, anyway-to control the trans properly. It’s not like a vacuum hose or a kick down cable any more.
