I watched your video before removing my rear tank. For some reason my 1989 Super Cab 5.0 only has one tank!! It has no performance or power on hills. I used a stethoscope on the rear tank pump. I could only hear the frame mounted in line pump! I will be installing a airtex rear fuel tank pump/sending unit. Helpful video thank you!

Cut a hole. Fabricate or order online (bronco graveyard fits f-150) patch. Save yourself almost a whole day. Do this before you have the problem. If and when the fuel pump goes bad or needs repaired labor should be about an hour.

The white wedge looking thing is just that. A wedge. It is used to separate the pump from the tubes. Watched a different video that is what they used to separate it.

I guess for me the big white elephant in the room is the question of wether its easier to remove the bed or the tanks?. I understand each of us situation is likely different, like I have a really large tool box and a bed liner, etc. (.but given the bare bones standard situation between the two) which is easier?
@elh4x4doinstuff49 Жыл бұрын
thanks for the comment AlLMyMaDArT-vf7ur. empty bed... take it off, and you wouldn't have to drain the tanks. there was just way too much stuff in the bed for me to take off and the tank was supposed to be empty. all comes down to the situation. great question AlLMyMaDArT-vf7ur.

@@elh4x4doinstuff49 perfect answer there. I'm still in the deductive stage of elimination... Already threw new plugs at her, a new MAP, injector cleaners, have a fuel filter in hand as we speak.. With the fuel pump scenario looming ever closer, I just wanted to have my ducks in a row. There's nothing worse than wading into a job to get halfway through it and find out that isn't the problem, or gee you didn't take the time to ask somebody that'd know.... Thank you sir . I can't thank you enough

Great video! Thank you. Please help if you can, I have a 91 f350 dual tank. Someone before me cut out the forward tank. I'm replacing everything front to back. bringing it back to original specs. In your video the fuel pump "body" has 3 metal tubes on it. I bought one new fuel pump/ assembly with the same 3 tubes. Do I need another unit with 2 tubes, or 3, or does it matter. I've seen other videos where the 3 metal tubes on assembly come out of forward tank. Can you help? Thanks for your time.

how about a code reader, if it doesn't read properly, the ecm is probably no good (blown capacitors) which causes sporadic performance.
