Bloody Americans. They should've all stopped 🤷🏼♂️ picking up car debris on their slick tyres as they push through. Someone could've been dead in those cars for all they knew.

Johnny O'Connell survived the crash and nearly got run over in a New York minute.

I see the little channel icon on the lower-right corner. I miss the old Nashville Network. They were one of the better channels in the 1990s for motorsports, including some of the NASCAR races.

Yeah was an awesome network, but then they left the country music scene to attract younger viewers as the The National Network which eventually became Spike TV.

I was right there right in front of this crash - saw it as live as one could. Really bizarre and spooky. Sound was eerie.

Thats a shame, that red white and blue nissan 300zx is an awesome race car of the 90s, awesome styling and amazing livery as well.

So yellow flags were invented some time after 1993?
@KeithJamesDesigns4 жыл бұрын
jonny j thanks Johnny. Doesn’t matter if I can hear it. What matters is a yellow flag in the corner but thanks for your wonderful insight. Really adds to the conversation.

Jonny... you dumbass. They brought out the full course caution AFTER the crash. Keith, I agree.

I was nine years old and remember seeing this crash...I was in turn 10 and could see the black smoke from O'Connell's car from there. One of the worst crashes in Watkins Glen history.

I was at the boot when that crash happened,,, first time I've gotten to see it. no wonder the race was stopped for so long..

That would be Dorsey Schroeder, a former racer who still works as an analyst for Speed Channel today.

That initial hit to the crash was every bit 145-150 mph at best. But I agree with what Mike Joy was saying about the track in this clip, some parts of the esses, including the area where this crash happened is kind of a blind part of the course anyway, some of the Cup Drivers in Nascar can tell you that. Oh, and by the way; Classic Days of Racing on the Nashville Network, back when you had IMSA, Sprint Cars, Swamp Buggies, and of course Nascar and NHRA Drag Racing

And the 24 Hours of Daytona as well. Forgot about that one.

WTF with the official? I mean, there is a couple of basic errors. The first one being the yellow to communicate "watch out, some bastard crash ahead... Don't go at full speed to hit them!". The second thing is "full course caution" at 0:44 - That should be a red flag right on, there is not enough place to pass on that track without having other car get some sort of damage. No, no, have a yellow, scrap others car, than have the red! FUCK!

IMSA in the 80s and 90s was on par with F1 in the 60s and 70s in regards to safety... Sadly.

0:47 Nice one black car! I thought these guys were supposed to be professionals. The esses are blind, but it's hard to miss the 3 wrecked cars and the driver walking on the track with the bright white helmet. The yellow flags should have slowed him down a bit too. If he hit the driver he would have been up for manslaughter charges.
@enzomonjes8070 Жыл бұрын
of course yes, reckless. Anyway, there are no banderilleros who warn of the accident. Also, she is blind. but you also have to understand that they are amatuer. at least it seemed
