That final was insane. Two great champions going at it strike for strike. Back in the day, there was nothing like watching the PBA and then following that up with WWOS with the legendary Jim McKay.

If only they could revive bowling and get a good sponsorship so they can give away good prizes every week. These classics are really inspiring to watch for an avid bowler like me. David is one of my favorites, too bad Mike was playing flawless! Very nice tournament indeed!

Wow. One of the best final matches ever. This must have been AMAZING to see on TV almost 20 years ago.

Another sidebar-Mike had recently run into some business difficulty, and this win got him out of it completely, as Brunswick paid him another 100,000 for bowling the perfecto with a Brunswick ball...

Was that a 'Major' Mika sighting at 1:22:17? Other question, why is prize money not as high as 20+ years ago? $23,000 for first in the Wichita Open, and last week $10,000 for latest Wolf Open, and most events minus majors NEVER exceed $25K. Bowling has grown exponentially since the early 1990's, but I still don't understand how prize money has not grown.

Best battle for a final ever. Ozio carries that 7-pin and it could have been a 300-300 tie. What a match!

Would've been great. Besides, Ozio bowled a better game in my opinion.

Kirk Von Krueger looks like he's throwing a AMF Blue Ninja...I know they don't always throw the matching ball or even brand to their shirts but if it is one..I had one back when I was a teenager. Couldn't throw it too much cause my hand span was drilled a bit too long but I recently donated it to a youth league at our center in exchange for some ball work on new equip I have now and days..but I would never have thought to see a pro throwing AMF equip on TV and doing so well with it as well...WOW Ninjas must have been pretty dern good bowling balls then...
@CanuckGamer337 жыл бұрын
I owned and operated a pro shop in those days and I can tell you the Ninja bowling balls particularly the Fury (red) and Master (blue) were excellent pieces of equipment. I don't know why AMF balls did not appear on the tour shows as often as the other brands in the 90's but they were quite good bowling balls. And yes, he IS throwing a Ninja Master in this video.

You'll need to find learn breaking the record with his amf ninja rpm.. One of the best balls ever.. Happened in 1994 he won 100,000 for his perfect game and broke every scoring record. Was the 94 flagship city open arena finals.

PROCHAMPIONSHIP BELTS in his hometown no less. As someone who’s bowled a few regionals it’s sweet to have a hometown event. Saves on expenses, you know every board in the center....

Why did the perfect game bonus drop by 90% from 5 years ago?
@mrbowling3009 жыл бұрын
The decrease was 100% attributable to lack of sponsorship dollars.

@NYDanno859 жыл бұрын
+Greg Palmer This was on the summer tour; by 1993, True Value no longer sponsored a 300 bonus past the winter tour. I think they stopped at the end of the 1980s or so; until then, they put up $25,000 for a 300 on ESPN and $100,000 for the summer ABC and fall NBC shows. Not said during this telecast - Aulby won the $10,000 from the PBA as well as $100,000 in Brunswick incentives for 300 - $50,000 for wearing a Brunswick shirt, $50,000 for throwing a Brunswick ball.
