I hadn't watched much baseball in my life by the time this series started. Game 4 was nothing I had ever seen before in a baseball game, let alone playoff/world series game. It instantly became my favorite baseball game, EVER. And you know what? Forget the game. These old commercials are just as entertaining! haha!

In my opinion the Blue Jays lineup in this World Series is one of the best of all time. Henderson lf Alomar 2b Molitor DH-1b-3b Carter rf Olerud 1b White cf Fernandez ss Sprague 3b Borders c. They had 3 HOF players hitting 1-3, and perennial All Stars hitting 4-7. How many teams are so good offensively that they can bench the AL batting title winner like the Blue Jays did in this series inserting Paul Molitor at first base against a left hander in game 3 and benching John Olerud. The Blue Jays had the top 3 hitters in the AL that year with Olerud .363, Molitor .332, and Alomar .326. The first time that had been done in the 20th century. The speed, power, and hit for average combination was immense. Toronto hit .279 with 159 HR and 170 steals.

Chrisman77 oh he used to make those kinds of predictions all the time. My personal favorite was right before Luis Gonzalez's walk-off hit in Game 7 of the 2001 World Series, he commented that "Rivera gives up a lot of broken bat hits to the shallow parts of the outfield. That's the danger of bringing the infield in with a guy like Rivera on the mound." And literally THREE SECONDS later, what does Gonzalez do? Hits a little dunker JUST over the drawn-in infield to bring home the winning run. His ball likely would have been caught had they been playing for a double play--perfectly achievable with Gonzalez running. McCarver called it perfectly.

One of the, if not THE craziest games I've ever seen. Left my buddy's place when the Jays were five runs down in the seventh, assuming it was going to be a tough loss and the Phils evening the series and then BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM ... "Henderson to the plate with the go-ahead run!!!". Called same buddy and said "are you watching this?". And yes, Chrisman77, what a legendary and weird "prediction" by McCarver. Hadn't noticed he said it until many years later. And we're not even talking about the most dramatic moment of the series, which of course is Carter's winning home run in game six. I feel kinda badly for Mitch Williams, who got the Phils there and then blew it and got death threats and such. His career was basically done after that. I'm sure the series sucked in US TV ratings, but that was a great one and who really cares? That Jays team really rocked ... maybe more so than the '92 team, in spite of the latter having lost so many players after its WS win. It was a fun time to be a Jays fan.

Two Phillies pitchers: Kurt Schilling and Mitch Williams. Kurt was excellent on the mound winning a gutsy game 5. Mitch Williams saved one game, and made mistakes in others. Which of these two men showed more class? MITCH WILLIAMS. In post-game interviews, he told the reporters to not look for excuses for him, and took responsibility for what happened. And the ace pitcher Kurt Schilling? He hid his face under a towel most of the time that Williams was on the mound, and made no attempts to hide that he was doing it. And R.I.P., Darren “Dutch” Daulton...

When you have a 5 run lead in the 8th you should win, but Mitch Williams was garbage. In 3 games in this World Series he faced 15 batters and walked 4, gave up 5 hits, and 6 earned runs in just 2 2/3 innings for an era of 20.25. He was the losing pitcher in games 4 and 6. I don't like to blame just one player so let's just say the entire Phillies pitching staff was very poor in this World Series with a 7.57 team era.

ump gets a few assists as he blew a few strike calls...the biggest blow to me was Hollins not charging that grounder. if he does then that momentum brings him a few steps to tag bag then easy throw to 1b for a double play. that left the door open for all hell to break loose. actually if he turned that double play inning was over right there. all hell broke loose after this play @3:44:00

The Blue Jays picked him up at the trade deadline. Their GM at the time, Pat Gillick, is one of the greatest ever. He built this team, then he built the Orioles in the mid-90s, then he built the Mariners into a contender in the early 2000s, including their 116 win season. You can see Ricky’s impact on the series in two big moments. In this game His 8th inning hit dropped in because Dykstra had to play him deep to protect the gaps. Then in game 6 Mitch Williams altered his delivery after walking Rickey since Ricky was a permanent base stealing threat. Mitch gave up the walkoff to Joe Carter shortly after altering his delivery. RIP Rickey Henderson
