I still drive my 1995 GT that I purchased brand new. Replaced engine at 275k miles. Magnaflow exhaust, H pipe, 3:73 gears, other small modifications. It is an awesome and reliable car, now with 315k miles on the chassis. About three years ago, I started getting “second round” compliments on its looks and sound.

@@GGRached nice! Cherish it and hang on to it even when times get tough. Even if it sits for a while because you need to replace a major part. Come back to it and fix it when you can. I've fixed mine in the garage so many times. I could probably take off the intake manifold, valve covers, and everything required to take those off in my sleep at this point.

- M.D.C - I never really considered the mustang 2 a proper mustang but I’ll agree it was worse than the sn95 by a lot. That said, I think I’d rather have a nice mustang 2 these days than a base model SN. If still take a GT or Cobra over the 2 though.

So nice to see this video. I have a 1994 Mustang GT convertible, black on black, on black. It has 40,000 original miles, and I bought it in 2010. When I purchased this car, it had 38,000 original miles, only 2,000 miles since I purchased. It is a collector car and when you stop the car on a nice summer day, as in all “new” cars, as the engine is cooling off, the motor pings, or, make a noise letting you know the car has very little use. People who understand what I am talking about will marvel at this car. A local Police Sargent stopped me one summer day a year ago. He pulled me over, the top was down and it was 75 degrees outside, and sunny. He came up to the car and said, sir, do you know why I stopped you? I said no officer, was I breaking the law? He said, I wanted to take a closer look at your Mustang, would you be interested in selling this car? I was shocked and then begin to smile. I was very polite and told him no sir, I love this car, and I would not sell it. He told me he would give me a very large amount of money for the car, in 2012 he offered me $15,000 for my Mustang. He gave me his personal phone number, and told me if I changed my mind, to please call him anytime. I drove away with a smile on my face, and now, in 2020, the car is 25 years old. Historical plates I will purchase this year, nothing but pure fun. I changed the chip in the electronics, and when we did, it increased it’s horse power to over 300. Quarter mile was 13.45 and 97mph. I live in Michigan and had a day at the drag strip the first summer I purchased it. Nothing but pure fun ... takes me back to my Chevelle SS days. I had another fun car in my youth, 1966 Chevelle SS with at 396ci- 350hp, another fine car which I loved. Cars were part of my makeup growing up during the 60’s and 70’s. Later I had a 1971 Z/28 Camero LT-1 350ci- 325hp, another great episode in my life for car lovers. If you can find a 1994 Mustang GT, scoop it up my friends, and transport yourself back to a fun time in the history of America, every year we have the Woodward Dream Cruise in Michigan, people bring their cars from all over the world to cruse Woodward Avenue in August . The event goes for an entire week, and I have seen some classics over the years, and the venue Is extraordinary for all car lovers.

This was definitely a good look into the future. The 94-95 models are the ones I wanted as a kid. And now that I can afford to have toys I've noticed they have all risen significantly in price. People are wanting upwards of $20k for solid, unmolested low mile units. The market is lookin up for the early SN95's for sure.

Just bought a 1995 GT Convertible for less than $10,000 with less than 43,000 miles on it. Still had the original tires and brakes on! Got news tires and an alignment done. Only things left to fix are the front seat adjustment doesn’t work and the automatic rear passenger window won’t go down. Other than that it’s pristine. Even the retractable roof works and not a drop of leaking. Plus, she still runs like a champ.

Former 1996 GT owner here. Had my SN95 from 1997-2019, 22 years in all. Rolled up 225K on the odometer. That sure was a fun car to drive. Fastest car around? No, not even close - but it had that special something that makes a Mustang special. Muscle car attitude, pony car fun, whatever you call it. I love my 2013 Mustang GT, which is a rocket with its 5.0L Coyote, but I am still looking for a clean, low-miles 1998 Cobra hardtop. I'll always have a soft spot for the SN95s. Done right, they're beautiful cars and if you are willing to spend the dough, they can be very respectable as street and track performers.

@@NewEdgeDesigns - I understand your reluctance to go backwards. I now have a 2013 Mustang GT with Recaro seats and Brembo brakes, which is a great car. I wonder how it would be to go back fifteen years in technology. If I pop for an older SN95 Cobra, it won't be to use it as a daily driver, tell you that. Parts are too hard to come by on those cars for use that way. Before I sold it, I was running into all sorts of problems getting spares for my '96 GT. 11K is pretty rich for a car that old with that many miles, IMHO. And if your circumstances permit, buy one from the SW, the weather there is almost always sunny and there is very little rust on cars and trucks down there. I have family in Arizona and know that terrain pretty well.

@ RomVlad - The video mentions that, too. I test drove a number of performance cars in the late 1990s before I ultimately bought a 1996 Mustang GT. In retrospect, I should have bought a Cobra, but that's another story.... I drove the high-output W-30 Firebird and Camaro SS both, and although both were extremely powerful, the build quality on them left a lot to be desired, especially the interiors. And seeing out of the thing? Forget it. Not tall enough for that ride, apparently.... and I am by no means a midget. Felt like lying down in a bath-tub, not driving a performance car. I once owned a 1969 Firebird and have nothing against GM, but if I can get comfortable in the car or see out of it well-enough to drive it well and safely, it's a no-go, no matter how potent the engine. Darned shame, too, because the Camaros of that era were good-looking cars. Ford waited way too long to fix the performance gap with the GM pony cars, but the Mustang continued to out-sell them. In part because of the issues you mention.

Just like the original Mustang epitomized the 1960s, nothing epitomized the 1990s better than Ford's SN95 Mustang. This is the Mustang I and other first laid eyes on/fell in love with and means the most. It was truly the first Mustang that put the car back on track to the greatness we have today. No longer a bastardized child, always in the shadow/grabbing scraps from other platforms - this Mustang was the SOLE model sold on compact RWD platform Ford had... a tradition that continues today - a bespoke RWD sports car that continue to bring relevant value to its satisfied customers even today.

I remember the introduction like it was yesterday, and I also remember when the '96 4.6 came out, it was quite a letdown to performance fans. Not until '99 did it start to get better, but even then Camaro owners showed us taillights at will. Today it's a much closer contest with the new cars.

I think SN95's are a good buy. I feel like they're stuck in between - Fox bodies are becoming nostalgic, and then Ford redid the Mustang really well in 2005. I don't think they'll ever become a 'great investment', because they sold so well. But, like the Fox bodies, they'll get to a point where nice drivers are hard to find. People rag on the styling, but with a few nice touches they can look good. They were really well received at the time. Compared to a Fox, word is they're much better screwed-together and much nicer inside.

The Mustang GT's renaissance of the Fox body really started with the '87 model year. From 1979-'86 it had been improving, but looked frumpy. The aerodynamic facelift for '87-'93 greatly improved the entire Mustang line, making it look more like a Mustang again, especially with the GT. The '94-'98 models really took it back to its roots as a being as beautiful for the '90s as the '64-'68 models were for that time. I wished they'd kept the '94-'98 style through 1999, giving it one more year and finishing out the decade and century. The '99-'04 had ties with the previous models but were in a 'block' style that lacked the naturally beautiful flowing lines it had had, giving it a 'forced' look I personally didn't care for, especially along the sides and back end. In addition they also looked less sleek as a result of it.

I didn't care much for mustangs (my first ride was on the back seat in a 74 mustang 2) and foxes were so-so, but when the 94 came out I loved it. Finaly got one back in 2007 and still own it to this day. First mods were CAI and mufflets lol. Thing's a tough SOB. But I have to agree that interior trim breaks easily. Luckily the aftermarket has you covered.

Great video! I originally bought a brand new LX 5.0 back in 89 and loved the power. Fast forward I later purchased a 02 GT convertible and fell in love with its look but I was surprised that it felt slower than my LX even though it had 35 hp more than the LX. I know the convertible is heavier but the extra hp should of had a better power to weight ratio regardless. I suspect those late fox bodies were underrated a bit in power but nevertheless I'm on my 3rd Stang and the experience just get's better!

People can say what ever they want to. I had a 87 LX and it was a great car never had any problem with it and it had 201,893 miles on it when I gave it to my Dad after I bought my New 2000 GT which I still have and I've had no problems with the GT except the A/C compressor. I had to replace it at 94,000 miles, I have 162,000 miles on it now. I don't ramble around as much as I use to.

Both of my parents bought a 1994 and a 1995 Mustang GT within a week of each other when I was in high school. Safe to say I liked my father’s 1995 GT a lot better. His was a fully loaded laser red GT hardtop with the black leather interior and the top end sound Mach 460 sound system with only the CD player missing. I learned to drive in the other Mustang and took my drivers test for my license in the 1994 GT that my mother owned since that one had the automatic instead

@ Ant Marc - Ford Motor Company got so caught up in building this high-tech new engine, the overhead cam 4.6L modular engine, that they forget what the buyers of the Mustang want: performance, or at least a good base for building up the car. FMC engineers made a rookie mistake, too - they didn't give the engine valving that breathed well enough. The intake and exhaust valves were too small, and did flow well-enough, a defect which was addressed with the performance-improved heads later on in the "New Edge" era. To be fair, the 4.6L was/is an excellent general purpose V-8, which served Ford well for many years in vans, light-duty trucks, pick-ups, and eventually in Mustangs. But they sure didn't get it right back those first years, at least not as far as keeping up with the GM boys and their push-rod 350 c.i. Chevy and Pontiac V-8s were concerned.

I'm a chevy man but I'm also a die hard car nut. I got the chance last year to save a 94 cobra from any more sitting and rotting from a very dumb and neglectful person that quit making payments on it to a friend of mine who owned it so lets just say i pretty much literally got it for a steal. I just within the last couple weeks finally got to start driving it and its still a long work in progress but has probably almost 10k in previous performance upgrades that my friend had did. I'm wanting to get it back to it's former glory with the added upgrades and sell it to pass it on to someone who will cherish it once these do shoot up in price.

The Fox Body has seen a big rise in price at auctions for a few years now. The later years of the Fox Body had more attitude to them than the SN95. A 1990 LX fastback was fast and powerful for its time. I wouldn't be surprised if the 2004-2008 "retro" Mustang becomes more collectible than the 94-98. I was impressed with the upgrades Ford did on the beefier 1999-2003 Mustang.

@ Michael Simko - Re: "I wouldn't be surprised if the 2004-2008 "retro" Mustang becomes more collectible than the 94-98." Maybe so, but I'd be cautious myself getting one because a good friend of mine had one, a very nice-looking blue Mustang GT, a 2007, I think it was - and it was nothing but trouble with that engine. When it ran, it performed great - but it spent as much time in the garage as on the street, it seemed like. Maybe the majority of the cars weren't like that, I don't know. Those 3v 4.6L V-8s made decent power numbers, and they boosted well, too, if that was your thing.

i think its kind of odd that the 95 gt came with the 5.0 because i had a 95 xr7 cougar and it had the 4.6 ohc v8. the 4.6 was much better, it was faster than my friends late 80s/early 90s mustang gts. i also raced a 1989 pontiac gta with the 350 and won as well as various turbos of the same time span. the mid 90s firebirds were faster, but i did not like that design and the cougar came with great options and was very comfortable to drive. it also had a good sized trunk and a bit more room in the back seats which made it a more versatile car. the mid 90s mustang body style was better looking than the previous models but i always liked the cougars and t-birds better

I disagree with the 4.6 being a better motor. a 94/95 mustang is faster than a 96 with the 4.6. there is a reason they changed it to a double over head cam (DOHC)set up.

I bought a 94 Cobra with 74k on it last year and when you think there's alot that could make them worth more in the future. It's the first year of the body style, one of two years with the 5.0 in the body style. 30th year of the mustang. Then add the fact that my color and interior combination only had 220 produced it's by no means a common car

plus...pre-2011 5.0 dual overhead cam mustangs WERE still highly competitive ...the 4.6 did a fine job in it's lifetime, sure the new 5 liter is a great engine today, but in it's day stock 4.6's, starting somewhere around the new edge sn95 were generating far more power than the previous OHV 5 litre fords had, and many models using the 4.6 went toe to toe with their Camaro and Challenger counterparts...
