Watched this live as a former Chargers fan, and that call after the 4th down play Chargers announcers: "Aawgleron!!!!!" Classic Hacksaw and team call.

My father and I at 10yo strapped the Charger chair to the roof of the van that afternoon and drove down to the Murph to receive the team at the stadium. What a magical evening and Junior coming out to tell the fans they weren't done was awesome!!! Great times!

I got too drunk while watching the game to make the trip to Murph with all my friends. It was a West Coast morning game and the Bloody Marys took me out.

Upvote if you saw this game live, when it happened... That was such an inspiring and gritty performance. Natrone Means, Ronnie Harmon, Alfred Pupunu, Junior Seau, Gil Byrd, Leslie O'neal, Humphreys and Jefferson...that was an incredible team, that went into hostile territory - and brought home the win. Those towels became 'terrible crying towels'.

Let's continue to show the team some love. I thought the NFL did the team a HUGE disservice - by not letting them be the Southern California Chargers... The Carolinas have the Panthers. New England has the Patriots. You can have teams identify with-, and play for- an entire region... So why not the Chargers, too? At the time of 'the move', large portions of their fanbase were in the IE, Orange and LA counties. If they could have split games for a while between Jack Murphy and the bandbox in Dominguez Hills, calling themselves the SoCal Chargers - it would have assuaged a lot of hard feelings. Oh well. I live up here, so I'm happy to have them. But I went to school down there, and still come down to visit on surf trips...So I have a lot of positive feelings about America's Finest City.

@@anotherworldviewispossible I was a 25 year season ticket holder. I blame the Spanos and the City of San Diego. If Spanos sold the team and stayed in LA, I would think about supporting them. SD LA or OC.
@anotherworldviewispossible13 күн бұрын
@@cuwsteve Open your heart. Dean has finally put together a winning front office and coach. Let past wounds and injuries heal. I think we should all move forward into a brighter future... That's just my two cents. Much Respect - from Venice.
@cuwsteve13 күн бұрын
@@anotherworldviewispossible "Open your heart" you crack me up. We had several good front offices. Spanos is a puke and he will never win. I want him to sell. I supported Spanos for decades. How do you feel when that they play all away games.....crowd is at least 80% the visiting team. Spanos chased the money and screwed SD fans, 50K strong. I do like Harbaugh.
@anotherworldviewispossible13 күн бұрын
@@cuwsteve Dean Spanos just hired the best leadership combo since Beathard (whom I knew, as a bodysurfer) and Ross. I'm frustrated with the way that we got here - but I want to move forward in a dominant and united fashion. Who knows what the future will hold for the Raisin kings, once they have a valuable and winning asset, that could make them a bunch of money were they to sell it, or take-on additional investors ... For sure, they were trying to get by, doing things on the cheap, for years... LT made the hall of fame, but didn't get the Jewelry he deserved. I'm well aware of the lack of response of the LA fans... It was never a problem for me, personally, as I mentioned, I've supported the team since the days of Dan Henning. LA is a town that loves a winner. Right now you can hear all of the broken legs happening - as people jump off the Rams' bandwagon. This time next year, we should have at least an AFC Champion, if not a Lombardi trophy... Seats will be hard to come by, at that point. I'd suggest forgetting about the owner - and looking at the Team and Fanbase (that's growing as we speak). I know from time spent in "The Jungle" (on "the Nifty 650"), that Lo-Cal kinda hates SoCal... And SoCal barely notices... It's like the classic story of Big and Little brothers. Let's not make this a Cain and Abel tale... Let's work together, and all get onboard for the big win. This New Team has tremendous upside, and a whole lot of young talent. ALT and Slater, Mack, Bosa and Tuli...Morgan Fox. This team has the tools to win, down in the trenches.

Stan Humphries, Natrone Means, Seau, Rodney Harrison, Seay, Martin, Griggs, Gibson, Pupuno.... Great year. It was magical when Elway fumbled the pass into Seau's hands. And Humphries to Martin for 99 yards, and then....... Humphries left elbow..... San Diego went on to the SB.................................. Thank God the NFL is rigged now because thats the only way LA can ever have a history like San Diego.

I remember this game when I lived in Oklahoma. All of the talk was about how the Chargers were a warm weather team and wouldn't have a chance playing in Pittsburgh. IIRC, it was 74 deg and Cowher was like, WHAT the HELL! But then, the Chargers didn't have a chance because of Deion!

Awesome Day… went to the Stadium to Welcome the Team… it was even raining a bit but No Once Cared… .. Sad to say Bobby Ross stopped coaching in the Super Bowl… like the whole Team just gave up… he never went back to coaching after that game… The outcome of the game could have been predetermined by the elites to cover the spread …

So then build them a house... But San Diegans were more hyped for Comicon, at the time. Maybe overlook the City designation - and think of them as the Southern California Chargers.
